Default Is it fair to leave Bangladesh out of the Champions Trophy?

Bangladesh have displayed some good improvement in recent times. Won ODI series against New Zealand and West Indies. Almost won the Asia Cup.

Your thoughts?

this, I feel we're on par with New Zealand and West Indies, in the sense that I think we would win at home, as would they at home

Champions Trophy is a worthless tournament anyways. Even ICC don't care about it, that's why they're cancelling it after this year.

These idiots are losing to Zimbabwe, so it's best that they don't get a chance to embarrass us in the CT.

How can you say that? we have played 12 matches in the last 2 years, having won 7 of them, including SL twice.

We are a much better unit than what we were today, and dont forget about the Biased umpiring we had to put up with in this series

Expected Bangladesh to at least win the ODI series 3-0. Thought they would lift their game after that 300+ loss in the 1st Test.

That says it all, we are still at no 9 so can't claim anymore. The tournament by its format is such that it will take the top 8 teams. it is not the world cup.

They always could, but no way could they arrange a series in BD during the monsoon. The only option is to tour Ireland. We could also arrange another series with zimbabwe in our home turf, and play some matches in sylhet and rajshahi, or even fatullah

Losing to Zimbabwe automatically disqualifies Bangladesh from the Champions trophy.

Besides all is fair and sundry when it comes to the Bangladesh cricket team. Being forced to bath with petrol, being denied morning practice and umpires - its all fair if its the BD cricket team.

Not fair to leave us out. But the way we are performing against Zimbabwe, demonstrates every reason why we should be left out of the tournament.

We did have a shot to qualify. People are making it sound like, ICC specifically made an announcement that we couldn't play. When the date for the Champions trophy was announced, they agreed on a cut off date. That was the qualification period. From what I remember the cutoff date was some time early in the 2012.

After beating NZ 4-0, we set ourself perfectly to take over the number 8 position. We needed to beat at least 2 top 8 teams during the WC 2011 to earn some big points, but we couldn't do it. We had another shot right after the WC, when we hosted Australia. We only needed to win 1 game to get us big points. Than we hosted WI in Oct 2011, we missed opportunity during that time too. And than we hosted Pakistan, and didn't win any games in that series. So I would say we had plenty of chances to get in the top 8. Remember NZ and WI were not all that far ahead of us at that time. Bottom line is we only have ourselves to blame. They made the top 8 rule to purposely leave out BD and Zim, there's not much we can do about that. But at the end of the day, there was a way to show middle finger to ICC, but we blew it.

We will embrass ourselves even we invited Ireland, Zimbabwe and Afghanistan. Loosing to them one game at home would be embarrassing.

This is the last tournament anyways. It would've been great if we played but nothing we can do. That being said, we need to organize a tour or 2 before the NZ series. That long gap would hurt us, since we've had 2 straight tours and we're in the rhythm, we should have another series to keep us fresh. Ireland would be a a good place in tour during that time frame.

That time belongs to Domestic Season. DPL doesn't have much value without national team player. Picture below is not relevant to this thread, but I'll post it anyway. Local player's protesting regarding the DPL start date. Unless they were part of teams that played in BCL final, these guys haven't played a single competitive game since February, and even than not everyone got a chance to play in BPL. We are already into May. 7 months left in the year- we have to squeeze in DPL, NCL FC, NCL ODI and BCL before December/January for BPL. After BPL, we don't have any time since we have to get ready for the WC T20. Not to mention there's no guarantee these tournaments will take place without any disturbance.
