The only way he could get a boundary was Via the air, hence only 3 boundaries all of which came through the air. Don't say Ash was playing test cricket on purpose, there were 8 other players who play far worse
so that means he is not a world class batsman at all, he is like our regular batsman like rajin/Javed......did u completely forget about his batting technique? He can find gap easily, even there are 6 fielders inside or outside the circle. But, in this match it was shocking. He played for himself to stay in the team. Cricket is all about performance. Even he didn't take chance of salman's and younus's over. A batsman can stay at the crease upto 50 overs and can score 40 runs. But, it will not help the team to win. We all know that it was a hard task to chase 233 runs in 40 overs, but he scored 70-80 runs out 40-50 balls, even he got out, other batsmens would get some encourage from him to led the team into a good position.

Default Today’s End Results

TODAY’S END RESULTS

Our objective in today’s one dayer with Pakistan was to do better and if we could draw or win that would be a bonus.

This is based on our recent performance against Pakistan in their own den where we were comprehensively whipped by them by huge margins.

So the objective that Siddons most likely set for today’s game according to his visions were improvements in some areas. No goal for a win.

In that respect we have to give to give credit to Siddons as we see 3 significant positives from today’s game.

1.Unexpected and remarkable Bowling improvements.

Mashrafe took for 2 wickets for 36 including 2 in one over.

Razzaq tool 3 wickets for 35 including 2 in 2 balls.

Alok was a class act. He scalped the crucial wickets of Salman Butt, Mohammad Yousuf and Shahid Afridi and returned with figures of 3 for 49.

2.Fightback.

When Salman Butt and Yousuf were cutting loose Alok halted this by lightning strikes taking the crucial wickets.

At one stage Pakistan score stood at 75 for 1. They slipped to 179 for 4 and finally bundled for 233.

It goes to Bangladesh Bowlers great fight back that they were able to contain Pakistan’s score to 233 in 40 overs and capture the last 6 wickets for 54 runs.

3.Fielding. I thought Bangladesh fielding was fantastic.

They looked very sharp, body language was good and tremendous stoppings and saves.

Negatives.

Batting : We all know that this Bangladesh eleven is devoid of two key and proven performers - One Sakib and the other Aftab and that we were playing with replacements Raqibul for Aftab with not much International experience and Kapali coming in place of Sakib after a long lay off.

Now who are the stroke makers of BD in this playing eleven?. Typically at the top Tamim then Ash and lower down Mashrafe who is more of a slogger.

On previous occasions either Tamim or Saqib used to play long innings while others came and gone. Riyad has recently been playing a good middle order role and stabilizing the innings.
.
Unfortunately in this match our batting barring Ash and Tamim fell like nine pins . So sensing an early collapse Ashraful was promoted up the order at No 3 which he normally does not play.

He must have received instructions from Siddons that his objective was to stay till 40 overs and not to accelerate to win the game as that may not allow BD to survive 40 overs and if that happened they would be under serious criticism.

However the pace at which Ash played was indeed baffling.

It is one thing to play a restrained or controlled innings. But that does not mean that in a One day match you will lower your SR to 60.21 as Ash ended in the match. This was like swallowing a bitter pill for most of us.

To make matters worse we also saw an unprecedented happening that of a Maiden last over against a semi part time bowler of the like of Younus Khan that made a mockery of a typical last over we see in a One dayer.

I am sure Siddons will talk long and hard with the guys on their dismal batting performance.

I would say Nazimuddin might come in place of Shahriyar Nafees OR Shahriyar Nafees may be retained in his usual position and bringing in Nazimuddin for Raqibul.

I am sure they will play better in terms of batting in the next game against India.

I think there is no need to panic now. Let’s look forward for the next game and hope for a better performance.

Allah Hafez.

Cheers!

can anyone tell me why we keeping Shahriar Nafees, he keep doing same over and over again, today he just put whole team under pressure when BD was going so well. He only should play agenist KEN, ZIM and others who is not in top 10 raking.

Surprise to see Askoa give a LBW shout in our favour

Nice to see Alok got some wickets.

Siddons showered praise for Ashraful after he followed his instructions and ensured honorable defeat.

Anyway, Ashraful said that he had a plan to chase down the score, but actually he never showed the intent even when he was with Tamim. His first 10 run took 30 odd deliveries and it was within the powerplays.

the truth is:

Today Ashraful was UNINSPIRED... and so was the whole team... so he didn't take risks! do you think it has to due with the heavy criticism he receives?

OPENING PAIR - DO WE HAVE THE RIGHT COMBINATION?

Hello Mij Bhaiyya,

Here's my thoughts on our opening pair.

Shahriar Nafeez must have done well in domestic league and practice matches to get the nod of selectors. But I still think Javed Omar and Tamim would be an ideal opening combination.

A right left combnation also unsettles the oppposing side to some extent because they have to frequently change field placings.

Javed may not score high maybe 30 odd runs. But he can graft and stay long to enable Tamim to play freely.

Siddons seems to be averse to consideration of our older bunch of players like Javed Omar, Rafiq ( now retired), Rajin Saleh.

But today Alok proved that old is gold and there is no substitute for experience.

So food for BCB Selectors and Siddons.

Allah Hafez.

Cheers!

Yap a 3 ball duck is really priceless and golden stuff!!!

I am ready to accept Alok only as a bowler, we need the variation. He should redirect all his efforts to bowling and bat at 8-11 position.

ASHRAFUL'S STRANGE INNINGS.

Hello Riffat Bhaiyaa,

If you have carefully watched the match presentation - Ashraful when asked about his views on the match clearly mentioned that he would have liked to have Pakistan innings fold at 190 and thay they have scored 40 runs more than their expectations.

In otherwords it implied that this score of 233 was in reality not gettable for BD.

So virtually in his mindset he already threw the towel.

So when he started the innings with that kind of mindset (most likely) he appeared very demotivated to even take the minimum of chances .

We hardly saw him playing any aerial shots which typically fetches him a lot of runs.

The problem with this kind of mindset is that it rubs negativley on the rest of team members and possibly we saw a few of the players playing rash/injudicious shots that brought about their downfall which was a pathetic sight for us to endure.

One hopes this has not gone unnoticed in the Coach's eyes and he will have quick fixes before the next encounter with India.

Allah Hafez.

Cheers!

Default Alok Vs Afridi - Batting And Bowilingwise

ALOK VS AFRIDI - BATTING AND BOWILINGWISE

Hello Miraz Bhaiyya,

If you see the performance of BOOM BOOM Afridi he too is not firing at all as a batsman.

A score of 20 with only 1 four is not the BOOM BOOM AFRIDI the world knows.

He actually played a test match kind of innings by his standard - 20 runs in 17 balls.

Who took his prize wicket?. None other than Alok who actually put up an Aloukik show today. However having said Afridi was the bowler whom Bangladesh batsmen found unplayable. Afridi made short work of our batsmen in no time and had a very econimic spell and tons of wickets(3 wickets) Eight overs one maiden ninteen runs three wickets at an economy rate of 2.37.

WOW! That is aloukik stuff from BOOM BOOM AFRIDI.

Our Alok's figures : Eight overs no maiden fortynine runs three wickets.

in terms of value his peformance is greater and better because he brought the downfall of Salman Butt and Mohammda Yousuf when they were cutting loose and also scalped the prize wicket of BOOM BOOM AFRIDI.

It was alloukik indeed !

I am sure he is going to discuss his batting performance with his coach and we all hope both his bat and ball will talk in the next encounter with India.

Hope this observation helps.

Allah Hafez.

Cheers!

C'mon Ash, keep up your game. None appreciates your contributions and sacrifices.
Agree....

At the end ASH's innings really looked ugly....but what else he could have done after loosing those early wickets...and also letting PAK score 233....I still think bowling was not great in the begining....Mirpur is not a 233 pitch in 40 overs....

What value it would added if ASH tried to go arrial after loosing 3 early wickets...and got out?? we would be shouting about how irresposible ASH is...he should be dropped....bla bla bla...His approach was to bat till the end and others play around him to reach the target...this is how a no.3 approaches in most of the teams....anyway, we want miracle from him!!! After all cricekt is a team game.

Though it is early to say, I did not find any ODI material in Raqibul in his short career so far.

What to say about SN....still trying to cut the ball which others would go for cover drive ....after getting out to wrong shot selection over n over.....still playing those shots...Pathetic...

Alok...well he started his career as a bowler...then shifted as a batsmen....i think now he is shifting to a bowler again....don't know what really to expect from him (even as a bowler also...i always rate him as a part-time bolwler)

This is what i am also afraid of about ASH...as his brain works in a piculiar way.
If BD bats first against India and we copy/paste ashraful's yesterday innings...it will not look bad....it will build foundation and he can always make up the difference of run/ball in the slog overs.....but u never know abt ASH's mind....

The problem is, ASH defines his mood in the previous night of the match.....not according to the match situation....he defines his shots before the ball is delivered...not after seeing the ball....

I don't understand how you people are saying that our bowling was great today??? Just because Pak was all out??

If this was a 50 over match, the scoure would have been over 300 the way our bowlers bowled in the powerplays.

Our bowlers bowled well only in the last 10 overs. They bowled crap in the first 30 overs of the innings. Especiallly Rajib.

Rajib should be dropped from the ODI team forever. Rasel should come in. He atleast doesn't give much runs.

exactly, Bro...

i do not understand why BCB makes farcheched decisions with little evidence... After Rasel's injury he has not been used at all??

about Rajib, i feel he is a good test specialist

our team fails... let's blame it on lack of experience and "world class"
Mohammad Ashraful is NOT world classs, he never was apart from his ambitious efforts here and there.

Tamim Iqbal... i applaud his efforts, he just needs to keep up with this momentuma dn in no time inshallah he will reach his goal.

i don't understand why when we play ODI it seems like our batsmen are "test material" and when we play test our batsmen are too impatient and careless. so, what type of cricketers are we??

let's not take anything away from Kapali, Razzak and Mash, even though i agree with murad that they should have boweled a bit better we would have an easier target to cahse, at least i was afraid they would cross 300 in 40 overs since they are from IPL so in a sense, Bangladeshi bowlers did well.

given past experience i would say ashraful did o.k. staying in the crease to get us past 150... i felt that if this wasa 50 over match and the target was 234 Ashraful would have been bit more aggressive possibly scoring close to 100.

why blame players when our batsmen's best records come from "domestic league" in dhaka when all of our "world class" opponents play everywhere, england, pakistan, india so they have more exposure to various forms of cricket experience when we don't face "world class" bowlers everyday....

like Mushfiqur Rahim, he averaged 48.something in domestic league... gives you an indication that he took his job seriously and he is ready to move up the next level facing international bowlers... but does he have all the knowledge and guts to perform well against international bowlers? we shall find out oon.

sorry for the long post, i am just upset
