Default Test squad for Eng

(1) Javed Omar
(2) Nafis Iqbal
(3) Habibul Bashar (captain)
(4) Rajin Saleh
(5) Md. Ashraful
(6) Aftab Ahmed
(7) Khaled Mashud
(8) Md. Rafiq
(9) Mashrafi bin Mortuza
(10) Tapash Baishya
(11) Shahadat Hossain Rajib
(12) Enamul Huq jr.
(13) Shafaq al Zabir
(14) Tushar Imran

Our main problem is the middle-order batting, so Tushar should be drafted as a possible replacement for Aftab. A bit more bowlers to cover the tour matches.

Nafees or one of the new kids doing well, like Himel or Shaheen. Pupose would partiaaly be to reward them for their performance in the NL.

Another Bowler (like Nazmul, Talha, Sheikh Russel, Tareq Aziz)

I would pick Tareq here. I was very impressed with bowling AND batting, the way he hung in ther and gave support to both Rafique and Pilot. I think he's a good Test prospect.

Good point but are you sure Tushar's the man?

I am not sure about playing Aftab in the best eleven. After all, he hasn't proved himself in the longer version yet. i would have nafis, javed, bashar, rajin and ash as the first five. i'd give anything to play a quality allrounder for the number six spot - i'm not sure how efficient aftab's medium pacers will be. i'd die to see chacha score another couple of centuries in the NL and do good with the bat and ball in the practice matches in england so that he can be brought in at this position. what we are lacking right now is a solid number six who can bowl very decent medium pacers.

i would like pilot, rafique, tapash, mashrafe and either enamul or another pacer to follow the number six position. alternatively, we can push everyone below six up by a number, and include both enamul and another pacer.

however, i'm not sure whether it will be wise playing enamul and rafique together, if you consider the conditions in england. therefore, everything depends on how well the players perform in the practice matches in england.

Especially considering Bangladesh's batting performance in tests it would be a bad idea to play five bowlers or a batsman of the calibre of Khaled Mahmud Sujon at number six.

** exactly right.. that is some thought!!! no word should e wasted on that as that will NOT happen. MOST test countries play pure batsman at 6.. (that is something many of us said many many times..)

Where is Rana in all this ???

It is a close call between Rana and Aftab for the no. 6/7 position.

Also Tushar hasn't done enough for me to justify a call up to the test squad.

Rana should be in the squad for both Test and ODI.

I would rather select Tushar Imran as 6th batsman.
Aftab's test performance is very ordinary.
Let him play more ODIs and then should be considered in test too.
Another one. Cant we include Shahriar Nafees Ahmed as a batsman? Let him play some practice matches in England.

Let's not get carried away with Tushar's bowling, he only bowled a few overs here and there and picked up a few wickets against a poor Zim side. He will get hammered against England. No need to experiment with part-time bowlers against top sides.

I agree...Khaled Mahmud shouldn't be included in the test side.

Right, and that performance too wasn't exceptional enough for him to be considered.

Have you guys been noticing that Taposh has been playing like a very very good batsman in the current BD league. Nazmul has to bowl head and sholder above Taposh to replace him.

My suggestion would be to select 5 specialist batsmen, 1 specialist keeper, and 5 specialist bowler (3 pacers and 2 spinners) unless the wicket is slow (which is highly unlikely) in which case another extra spinner should be added by dropping a pacer. I think Mashrafee and Tapash provide valuable batting in the lower order and they will perform well with the bat in England. I'm a little hesistant about Nafis's footwork in the fast paced English conditions and also Javed's becoz he squares up too much. Habibul is going through a poor run of form, but i think that doesn't mean that dropping him should even be an option. I think he still has a few more years of cricket in him. I would include Shafaq, Razzak and Tushar as back ups.
How many players are we allowed to take in England? Anyone knows?
