Also, Parliament ought to pass a law making it mandatory for every Bangladeshi cricket fan to sing আমার সোনার ময়না পাখি everytime he gets a Shakib.
BTW, you may have followed the North Star but I was the Hershey Bar in his father's back pocket BEFORE Senior met his eventual wife, so there!

Hahahahahahahaha! Good post. I had totally forgotten about him. He's not talking much nowadays is he? I think he/she is an existing BC member who just made another account for his alter-ego.

No, not yet. Let me explain.
What Shakib is going through is combination of LUCK and Sheer CONFIDENCE. (Also hard work)
Look, we all know his batting technique leaves a lot to be desired. For example, he played really aggressive 2nd test - 2nd innings, if he got out playing one of those shots, we are the one would be asking for his head. (e.g. Look up the thread, who decided to bat first in second test)
So here is the deal, I hope he can continue improving and keep delivering. Cause end of the, that's all matters... not fluke talent like Ashraful.

I wonder what percent of the wickets Shakib has taken over the last year or so
You also forgot his ability to bowl 160km/hr with both arms while keeping at the same time

We need to keep things in perspective here. It is exactly this kind of thinking that have led to the failures of such talented players like Aftab Ahmed, Nafis Iqbal, Mohammad Ashraful etc. We see a hint of potential and we hail these players and treat them like Viv Richards. Shakib still has a lot to improve. His batting was awful in this series barring the last innings. He threw away his wicket at a crucial point that triggered a pathetic collapse in the first test. It was only because of the opposition's lack of experience and skill that we were able to win that test match, otherwise, the way we collapsed from 321/5, during moments like these you lose the test match.
Shakib has tremendous potential no doubt, but he needs to keep his head on his shoulders and look to perform consistently over a period of time. Also he needs to bat higher up the order at 4, so when he comes in to bat, Bangladesh are only 2 down rather than 4 down.

I remember his debut with Farhad Reza and liked him immediately.
We have seen his GOD gifted hand-eye coordination in other batters also, but nobody other than Tamim has applied that natural talent any better. His batting is at times is Miandad-ugly but just as effective. Fortune favors the intelligently bold, and more often than not, he will get away with things others won't. That's the way certain guys simply are. Also look at Sehwag and Gayle with their poor footwork often negated by the amazing ability to play length without fear.
Definitely the first great captain in our history. Also the the best bowler (echoing Spitty's sentiments here). Batting wise I have the ever improving Tamim Iqbal ahead of him with GoBoy following behind, but character wise, no matter what he's doing on the field, nobody comes even close.
The best is yet too come. I hope GOD keeps me alive to see what he'll do between 27 and 35 ...

Whatever dude, I liked him even before you. I visited him hospital room when he was born and proclaimed him the new King, I brought him gifts carried on a camel and I followed the northern star to the hospital.
