To give you an idea about Tamim's impact on ODI cricket - in terms of career runs scored (7943), he has surpassed Eoin Morgan (7701) and Steve Waugh (7569) already, and not too far from surpassing Afridi (8064), Amla (8113) and Sehwag (8273). He will probably be remembered as the best ODI batsman ever to play for Bangladesh. Assuming ODI cricket will be phased out (to accommodate more T20I matches and T20 franchise leagues) in next 5-9 years, don't think any Bangladeshi batsman has any realistic chance to overcome his stats in this format.
The golden era of Bangladesh ODI cricket had started with him (counting from the time we knocked out India from a world cup) and is very likely to end with him as well.

People talk about their golden era..most of the times golden era means either winning a world cup/playing final or a big tournament or some significant winning records by a group of players
In our golden era our best result is playing world cup quarter final by wining 3 matches in the tournament. Win one tri series Nations cup were the other two teams were ranked below us
Man I sound depressing and negetive...

Eshen, ODI is not going aywhere.
People like me don't watch T20's with enthusiasm. I skip IPL and such crap T20 tournaments completely.
Our golden era of ODI was when Sir Ash played like Sehwag.

Mediocrity is ingrained into the bengali psyche.

It really was. No one has surpassed the style of Sir Ash's batting to this date.

Ashraful was the best batsman in terms of technique.
He definitely underachieved. He was much better than Shakib and Tamim.

Tamim is becoming outdated even for ODI cricket. This morning, during power play, he actually had SR 90+ while negotiating swing. He then just slacked out and let his SR drop to 65 by over 23. During that 13 over lull, I would say we scored 30 runs less. Liton was struggling, but was trying to up the ante. At one point, Tamim walked up to him and seemed liked asked him to chill. Liton got in the attacking mode only after Tamim got out.
Tamim's lack of intent to score, even after having an extra batter on the order, was simply pathetic.
