Default Shakib not coming back from IPL for World Cup Preparation Camp

Quote:

Abahani is making a farce of the prep camp anyway, as they won't release the national players (8 of the WC players are in their camp). Now Nannu is saying the camp may be effectively reduced to two days.

Shakib will have a much better prep playing in IPL.

Playing on the bench you mean, he is now effectively the sixth choice foreigner in that squad.

^^Even that should be better than a two day long fitness camp. Don't think they will be working on strategy or skills with so little time given.

Shakib is doing his part by working with Salahuddin on skills being over there.

Better to be two days with the whole team and coach discussing and preparing for an ODI tournament rather than sit on the sidelines watching a Domestic T20 tournament

You're entitled to your opinion, but I trust Shakib knows better what he is doing.

Like I said before, the prep camp has turned into a farce anyway, thanks to Abahani directors who are running BCB.

Shakib always pulls through in a big tournament. I would question this if it was anyone else. But Shakib is Shakib and he very likely knows this is better prep for him.

Here is the schedule for the prep camp:

https://www.bdcrictime.com/bcb-revea...ore-world-cup/

Rhodes kept the schedule pretty light, except for the last two days. I guess he is leaving it for the player to work on their own now, given the number of injuries in the squad. Shakib won't be missing much here.

Bairstow is leaving for England this Wednesday. So for matches on April 27 and 29, choice will be between Shakib and Nabi again. Hope he has some sort of assurance from Hyderabad that he will be picked ahead of Nabi this time.

Shakib is not a rookie. If this was Yasir or someone else, no excuse. However you are asking a veteran who has been playing over a decade, not to mention has been the backbone of our team literally, to attend a camp for 2 days to do what exactly? He has been doing the same thing he will do in those two days camp at IPL nets. Even got his fav coach sent over to help him sort personal issues out. Clearly rubbing shoulders with Warner and co would provide much more experience than Anik/Ruben's fav two players

Al though this says WC preparation, WC photo shoot, WC media commitments, WC etc. Aren't they going for the tri-series to Dublin with a different squad? Or they are going to play Rubel/Fizz/and all other injured/semi injured players?

Wise of him to avoid media atm. There will be plenty of photo sessions during WC.

When reading I was expecting some solid reasons why he ditched the official photo sessions but disappointed. It would not have taken him more than 30 mins to finish taking photos with team. Still a mystery why he left.

Apparently whatever excuse he came up with was satisfactory to management.

^^ Ha Ha, sounds like Papon swallowed his own vomit. Even if Shakib didn't bother to open the message sent by BCB, Papon himself called Shakib to inform him of the photo session, as per Papon's rant yesterday.

Shakib is untouchable now that he has close ties with Joy and Hasina.

Ms. Shakib needs to grow a thick skin like her husband.

People hate Shakib - big deal? Should not be. You people are having great business in BD, a great future in USA, and you guys are travelling around the world since Shakib is a great player.

So what if Shakib does not get the love of people? God has given you ample blessings - count what you have been given and be grateful and do not sulk over one particular blessing He has deprived you of.

And you know what? A saint once complained to God that people hated him and asked God to decree that everyone loved him. God said: "You are asking me to decree something that even I have not decreed for myself!" That is true. God is not universally loved. Some love him. Some hate him.

Fans and journalists do not know Shakib personally. We see him from distance. I am sure Shakib is a great man, but you know what? He is simply unable to exude warmth like Mashrafe does. May be naturally he comes across as somewhat aloof. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it - but it is possible that such predisposition is a reason why he is not as popular and as loved and admired like Mashrafe.

Anyway, be happy and be grateful. Don't destroy your time and happiness thinking over who love and hate you.

I will cut some slack, she is neither old enough or matured to ignore overwhelming feeling of popularity, fame and pressure being at the center of attraction from the world including 16 crores of us.

I would not blame media for manufacturing news out of Shakib's absence in the photo session. It became newsworthy because of Papon's rant (which he has now retracted). Our board president is long overdue for some media training.
