New office times from Sunday, school schedules from Nov 1

Dhaka, Oct 15 (bdnews24.com)–The new work hours for government, semi-government, autonomous and private banks, financial corporations or institutions to control chaos on the streets of the capital will be enforced from Sunday (Oct 18).

Secondary, higher secondary and English medium schools will follow the new schedule from Nov 1.

The establishment ministry issued the order in a circular on Thursday.

The changes in the timetable to ease stress on the road networks were approved at a Cabinet meeting, chaired by prime minister Sheikh Hasina, on Monday.

School and businesses were asked to follow new work hours in a latest government move.

The government offices will however continue with their current 9am-5pm schedule.

Banks, insurance companies, other financial institutions and all private companies will work from 10am to 6pm, while primary and kindergarten schools will have to finish business between 9:30am and 4:15pm.

Secondary, higher secondary and English medium schools will start between 7am and 8:30am and end between 1pm and 2:30pm.

Government, semi-government and autonomous corporations or institutions will follow the old 9am-5pm.

I love this 7am timing. Rat jaiga party bazi ar kora lagbey na. Or phone'a prem alap'o bondho. Why not make it 6am?

মাফ চাই এতেই বিপদে পড়ে যাবো। এখন ফযরের জামাত ৬.২৫ এ। নামাজ শেষ করে বাসায় আসতে আসতে ৭.১০ বেজে যায়। ঠিক ৭.১৫ থেকে সারা ধানমন্ডিতেই যে কি কুৎসিত জ্যাম লেগে যায় এই ইংলিশ মিডিয়ামের স্কুল গুলোর জন্য না দেখলে কল্পনাও করতে পারবেন না।

এখন ৭ টায় ক্লাস শুরু হলে তো নামাজ পড়তে যাবার সময় জ্যামে পড়ে যাবো! এখন সূর্যোদয় ৬.৫৬তে। ব্যাপারটা মোটেই সুখকর হবে না। অবিলম্বে আগের সময় ফিরিয়ে আনা উচিত। DST কার্যকরে দ্বারা যতটুকু smartness দেখিয়েছিলো এখন ততধিক বেকুবি প্রদর্শিত হচ্ছে।

Take it easy mate. Not everyone lives in Dhanmondi. But if class starts at 8 and close at 2 how much studies will happen in a high school. No time for afternoon sports. When is the tiffin time?

ব্যাপারটা হলো ধানমন্ডি ৭ নাম্বারের মসজিদে পড়ে অভস্ত। ঐ এলাকাতেই আমার জন্ম, বেড়ে উঠা তাই হলো সমস্যা। এখন স্কুল টাইম সকাল ৮টা।

এই হলো সেই মসজিদ। বাইতুল আমান জামে মসজিদ।

I dont think the new timings will do any good. Banks and offices closing one hour later means that if anything, this will make the jams stay on for one hour longer into the night!

Altogether schooler jam aro ek ghonta aage shuru hobe, shondha-raater jam aro ek ghonta taanbe.

Now the people in the private farms would be more than happy. During regular hours they already have to put up overtime. So this new schedule actually will cut their one hour extra spent in the evening while making it late on time.

Auntu bhai after your prayer, don't look at the school girls, do not thinking of winking or smiling, just look straight and keep doing zikir and must get home soon, if needed run, before the virtue gained form the prayer disappear!

It elongated the traffic to a mess never experienced before.

Ha! you underestimate the kids of this generation. No compromise on rat er prem, they will just show up to school rather way more groggy.

My mom is a school principal and she is pissed with this rule. Parents have less control over thier kids these days.
