Using U2U Messenger

Janakantha reports that Javed Omar will not open in the first match. Mehrab and Ashraful will open. And then Sumon will come at three (there is a distinct possibility that Javed might also be in this position since he batted alongside Sumon during net practice). Tushar and Akram will bat in the middle order. Kapali, Pilot, Sujon, Rafique, Tapash and Monju will come in the lower order.

If there is a need for an off spin bowler, then Sanwar may sneak in - though he is initially not meant to be in the first eleven, but because of his bowling, he might get in place of Sumon. In that case Tushar will bat at three.

Who knows number 3 or 4 might be the best position for Javed as he used to play at number 4 for Mohammedan.

He might provide some resistance to falling wickets at that position.

I have a suggestion/idea ... why don't we allow our top clubs like Mohammedan, Victoria and Abahani to play with SA and India and then see what they are upto (excluding the players who are in the national team).

I'm a little confused! That team has 12 players. Okay, lets start from the beginning. Opee opens with Ashraful, Sumon comes in at 3 and then Javed at four? And then Akram and Tushar? Thats too many batsmen because Kapali is obviously going to play, and then Pilot, Sujon, Rafiq, Tapash and Monju.

Well the bowling looks quite settled. As for the batting, we can only have 3 out of Golla, Sumon, Akram and Tushar, assuming that Opee and Ashraful are definitely opening. If you ask me, the one to drop out should be Tushar. So the team will be:

Opee
Ashraful
Golla
Sumon
Akram
Kapali
Pilot
Sujon
Rafiq
Tapash
Monju

Well, thats my team anyway.

From the available players for this tournament, I like the combination suggested by Sham. Only problem is that it seems to have 1 bowler short. I see 3 front line bowlers in Tapash, Monju and Rafiq and 3 supporting in Sujon, Ashraful and Kapali.

Regarding batting order, a very important consideration is whether it is (relatively) easier for our players to bat in the first 15 overs - due to fielding restrictions - or the later overs, when the ball will be older. If the former is the case, then Opee and Ashraful should open. If latter is the case, then Opee and Golla should open. Just a thought - it seems to me too much is being expected of Opee.

I would prefer the following order, with changes if the situation dictates:

Golla
Sumon
Akram
Ashraful
Kapali
Pilot
Sujon
Rafiq
Tapash
Monju

according to DS ashraful and opee will open with tushar to follow (instead of bashar!).

According to Ittefaq they say that Javed will play.

the narail express is playing in the bcb match against SA according to DS. so at least that is some good news, unless he trips over the boundary rope this time.

it sucks that javed omar has a fever. what awful timing. how do you get a fever in dhaka in april?

U2U is used to send private messages to any of the members here.

U2U means User to User. It is a simple messaging client that you can use to send messages to fellow members on this board.

When you come to the board, you will see on the top right side a message if you have any u2u message unread.

To send someone a message, click on their name, then click on send u2u.
