Default Is it time to try Mushy no. 3 in tests?

In light of the recent innings, got me thinking again about trying mushy at no.3. He's one of the most technically correct in the team, he's played some of the grittiest innings of any BD batsmen yet he also has the shots, he's reasonably consistent and all this in combination with his experience, if he's willing to take on the position properly and be committed, could it be a good move for the team?

Then again pretty interested in seeing shanto at 3 since he's more of a specialist there, mominul can go back to no. 4.

It is time to rest the seniors and focus on the younger players, I mean look at the scorecard, it will not get any better, rather try the approach Zim and specially WIndies are taking.

Build on the new youthful talented players and give them a long run. Probably Mominul can take the rein of captaincy. There will be some heartbreaks but in the end it will be better for everyone. Use 1 or 2 capable old horses like Tushar or Ash based on performance but not for skipping.

Mushy might struggle.

He's good against the old ball

Playing mushy at 1,2,3 or 12 is not going to make difference if nobody has the motivation to perform.

There are deeper problems in the team that needs to be solved , but yes in a performing team mushy will be good at 3 but mominul seems to be doing well there

So it really didn't matter, he can't handle the new ball.

The openers and Mominul didn't even take the shine of the new ball before Mushy arrived

If you want someone to take the shine off letnus go back to Rajin Saleh.

Looks like mushy has lost his grittiness. BD need some batsmen willing to hang around and if it means not scoring much for that session or he first hour or whatever then so be it, need to look at the bigger picture.

We had a player like that in Naeem Islam, but he didn't have X-factor or popularity like the other morons we have played over and over.

Ya... if he fails at #3 also, then try as an opener. Keep recycling old tricks and hope for miracle.

Wait Roey hasnt made one post here? Where are u man?

On topic, Mushy's technique isnt good enough for a no.3 role. Temperament alone doesnt work

Then who has the technique that is good enough and in combination with the temperament?

Need some sort of solution. Mominul hasn’t done poorly but he has been better at 4 and with the team struggling it might be worth putting him back at 4 to get that extra output from him.

Or do you think stick with mominul?

well we dont have one. I am starting to think we need to have Tamim at no.3 because our batting lineup is so dependent on his contribution, so he should be occupying the most important batting slot. I know it sounds totally crazy but its just a thought.

But other then that, Yea it has to be Mini. Or maybe if somehow Tushar Imran or someone very mature and patient can take it.

Pretty sure a couple of years ago I suggested tamim at 3 in tests. We’d need to find another opener though.

Bringing back the old guard: tushar, saleh. Naeem is a thought but I’m not confident in his technique.

I see no solution to our batting line up 1-8 really tbh

Tamim is inconsistent
Second opener we don't even have
Mominul will get a 50 here and there but mostly remain inconsistent
Mushy will come out like a boss, get a bouncer, forget everything else and rush to leave
Shakib is more cautious playing no.7 for Sunrisers then he is batting at no.5 in test matches
Riyad is a day in and day out player. One day he is in and showing promise next day he is making ordinary deliveries looks unplayable.

Mosaddek/Sohan.. lots of promise but future looks uncertain since we have seen their kinds fade before
Miraz= Allrounder= myth.

It's not one hole.. the entire thing is a black hole
