Majority of pitches in the UK are not green minefields nowadays. They offer a 50/50 balance between bat and ball, and offer swing till lunch on the first morning, and every morning for the first hour when there are overcast conditions. Edgebaston. Cardiff. Old Trafford are flat, batsmen friendly pitches. Even Headingly isn't what it used to be. Don't get me wrong, there's always something for the bowlers in England but nowadays what Nafi was saying in his original post is a rarity. Headingly used to be a seamers paradise but that is slowly dieing away.

Birmingham btw is a batsmen paradise, flat track, remember Ponting's toss 2005....Oval is the same. Lords offers a good contest between bat and ball but bowlers struggle with the hill there. Chester Lee Street will be bowler friendly, Old Trafford is 50/50 on the first day, and becomes spin friendly later on. Roughens up alot on days 4 and 5, again remember the Ashes there in 05, last time cricket was played there IIRC

However any swing for us will be lethal
