Faster version of Nazmul if anything.
did you even watch the match ? shafiul was the pick of the bowlers in first innings, even though shahadat got the wickets. that's how it happens in cricket sometimes, the best performer doesn't get rewarded and the mediocre ones does. he bowled a nagging line and length and was unlucky not to have picked up both sehwag and gambhir.

Shafi was indeed unlucky. I like what he has to offer. Count him as a find of the year. He must travel to NZ.

getting him to NZ would be an excellent move. if he bags a few wickets in pace friendly conditions it will do his confidence a lot of good and he will be a changed bowler thereafter.

and don't forget, he can hit those sixers !

Shafi offers subtle variety without telegraphing any change of wrist position. I like that. He must go to NZ. Sixers are bonus and will come handy in shorter version.

I'm surprised by some of the comments here. Shafiul bowled much better than rubel in the 1st test (though rubel bowled a good spell in the 2nd innings). He was also consistently quick and (as others have said) unlucky not to pick up more wickets.

I went for rajin as an unorthodox selection, if zunaid is the choice I'd be happy to see him there. Anyone but nafees, who looked all at sea against quality seam bowling and is still living off his reputation from his hundred against Australia in 2006.

I don't think Zunaid bhai has a sylheti bias, otherwise wouldn't he be calling for kapali, enamul and nazmul to be in the side too? (Perhaps tapash too?)

Tigers eye is right, there'll probably be no changes to the playing XI (at least in terms of batting). At a push maybe they'll find room for naeem as a batter and enamul as a bowler, but even that is unlikey...

Here are my questions-
1. Will Shahrial lkely to perform well in the 2nd test? If the answer is no then we need to drop Shahriar and bring someone else.
2. Was it a right decision not to inlcude Naeem in the first Test? If the answer is no then, he should be inlcuded in the seond Test.
3. Will Zunaid do better than Shahriar and Imrul? Will he perfom better than either of them? If yes, then he should be inluded in place of either one.
4. Do we need to have 2 full time spinners in the 2nd Test? If so, who will be the 2nd spinner?
5. Some have raised Shafiul. Is he a better option in the 2nd Test?

Apparently, the subjects seems to be Zunaid, Shahriar, Imrul, Naeem, Shafiul, 2nd spinner.
Your thoughts please

I'm not particularly happy with what the selectors have done with the squad over time, pushing us to a position where we are now paying for past mistakes. There's no point naming my XI as it will differ greatly from the one that is about to be announced.

you guys are so dumb. THE indians know that Nafees is good against spinners and bad agianst pacers. SO where ever he bats, the are just going to have pacers bowl to him. it is as simple as that.

saying that SN plays good against spin shouldn't be a reason why he is in the team

As long Shariar Al Mofees is dropped, I think the selectors would have made a wise decision. Bringing back Junaaed is a better option that Shariar. His 2nd innings performance just shows he still has in the inability to play Test cricket.

I think its time to say good bye and good ridance to a player who is extremly useless to the national team. Shariar Nafees reminds me of Opi.
