Default Bangladesh In Sri Lanka 2017

We should have a thread for this tour. This will be the most important tour of the year for us in my opinion. Sri Lanka and us are equals on pen and paper. We have the advantage of a more experienced side and they have the advantage of home conditions. It will be more difficult then many of you guys think but obviously if Bangladesh puts effort into the games, they should win majority of them.

Starting with news,

Bangladesh will start off with the ODI series not test! That has been changed recently.

http://www.bdcrictime.com/2017/02/ti...ri-lanka-tour/

That changes a lot of things. Starting off with the format we are better at is a good idea. Get the confidence boost.

As much as we are smacking our lips on the prospect of beating Sri Lanka, they are also eyeing us as a team they can win against. SL is always very strong at home. I would have labelled us as the clear favorites a year or so ago, but Graham Ford has nicely molded them into a fighting unit.

Bangladesh's biggest enemy though could be homesickness, and perhaps fatigue for a few. The tour will probably involve a fair bit of traveling to different venues. Conditions are different at every ground. So need to adapt.

Plus, Shabbir is the daddy of Nuwan Kulasekkra who will be playing in the T20Is, if he can open, we will have the most devastating opening pairs in the Intl Cricket(Hopefully)

Sri Lanka series will be closely contested. Sri Lanka have actually done okay on their tour to South Africa, and their players are bound to gain a ton of skills and experience from that tour. They will be up for it against the Bangladeshis. The new players that have come into the Sri Lanka ranks look exciting. They play like they have nothing to lose. I remember Australia toured there last year, and though they lost the test series 3-0, those matches were closely fought, and could've quite easily been 3-0 to Australia instead. Afterwards, they destroyed Sri Lanka in the ODI series 4-1. It will be interesting to see how Bangladesh does. If they struggle, and lose all the matched, then I will be rightly worried since Bangladesh are currently win-less this year despite playing away from home.

I can tell you right now that we will lose unless we make Nurul Hassan or Liton Das the keeper. Mushfiqur has done well recently, but with the bat only. His keeping is as bad as ever, and he is not a good leader because he is annoying.

So unless you drop him from the captaincy and take his gloves away, SL will win easy!

But because the insecure man is so smug everytime he does well, and throws everyone under the bus when they do badly, I would also not mind at all seeing him gone from the team all together. It's fine, really no biggie. Any loss in batting from one dwarf will be more than made up by better locker room atmosphere and wicket keeping skills.

By the way, a bunch of full grown men should not be suffering from home sickness. That excuse is off the table.

Wish we had started with Test and get acclimated to the conditions, since our best chance at victory are ODIs. Or start with T20s, since Tamim/sakib/mullah will all be in that mindset from PSL.

Well ... I don't mind to start with Odis. If bd can start with win the series, we will have more chance to beat them in test. Confidence is a big factor to be successful.

No way, Soumya is a devastating batsman. He needs to play his natural game, not attack all the time. He and Shabbir are our man batters in limited overs.

My squad for ODI would be,

Tamim
Soumya
Sabbir
Mushy
Shakib
Riyad
Mosaddek
Nasir
Mash
Taskin
Fizz

Extras: Al Amin, Miraz, Imrul

3 seamers, 4 spin allrounders. No need to play a specialist Spinner for ODI. Nasir can add bowling, batting and fielding.

For T20,

Tamim
Mominul
Sabbir
Soumya
Shakib
Riyad
Mushy
Mosaddek
Mash
Taskin
Al Amin

Extras: Shafiul, Anamul, Fizz

I would rest Fizz as he has nothing to prove in T20. Rest him for the test series. We can afford to experiment with Mominul because none of Soumya or Imrul are good enough in this format. Mominul showed improvement in last BPL so with giving him a chance. It could also be Mehedi Maruf or Bijoy

Hambantota, is a nice ground in the middle of the jungle.

I recalled them saying during the T20I World Cup

We need to win atleast 1 of the ODI matches in order to ensure we are in the top 8 of the rankings before september so we need not play the qualifiers for the next world cup.

Winning a test is also going to be a big thing if we can achieve that.

ODI side should be:

Tamim
Soumya
Mushfiq
Shakib
Mosaddek
Riad
Sabbir
Miraz
Mashrafe
Taskin
Mustafiz

Bench-Rubel, Nasir. It would be suicidal not to pick Miraz, given how many quality lefties SL have. Mosaddek should also be a part as well. I hope that Malinga doesn't play, as Miraz and Mosaddek would struggle against him. Others won't.

With this mediocre bowling attack we hardly have any chance in TEST cricket to win in foreign soil unless we learn very quickly the trick nd technique how to REVERSE, prior to that how to maintain one side rough nd otherside shiny, same way the INDIANS started it from the 12th Over onward.
