Latest NYC Subway Homicide: Victim is a Bangladeshi
http://www.nytimes.com/2012/12/29/ny...&smid=fb-share
The victim this time is a Bangladeshi from Elmhurst. Not even a month has passed since a Korean-American - also from Elmhurst - was murdered in Manhattan. Condolences to the family.
Word to the wise: stay away from the tracks!

Is he Bangladeshi? I thought the article said he is from India. Either way it's still a very sad story. We all should think twice when standing close to the platform.

It reads Soumen Sen or something. Anyway a homeless lady has been arrested in this regard. She was recognized by the spy cams inside the station. Eye witnesses confirmed there was no communication between the two before the incident.

He "grew up" in India, but the NY Times article gave his picture and said it came from his "Bangladesh" passport. CAIR is reporting that the woman pushed him because she mistook him for a Muslim.

Quote:
Erika Menendez was charged in the death of Sunando Sen, who was crushed by a 7 train in Queens on Thursday night, the second time this month a commuter has died in such a nightmarish fashion.
Menendez, 31, was awaiting arraignment on the charge Saturday evening, Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown said. She could face 25 years to life in prison if convicted. She was in custody and couldn't be reached for comment, and it was unclear if she had an attorney.
Menendez, who was arrested after a tip by a passer-by who saw her on a street and thought she looked like the woman in a surveillance video released by police, admitted shoving Sen, who was pushed from behind, authorities said.
"I pushed a Muslim off the train tracks because I hate Hindus and Muslims ever since 2001 when they put down the twin towers I've been beating them up," Menendez told police, according to the district attorney's office.

Really sad. Kudos to the other New Yorker for his/her vigilance.

Bangladeshi Passport holder.... Toronto Star has his passport photo on, complete with the familiar Bangladesh seal, squiggly passport officer signatures and bangla typeset.
