New Zealand Series and effect of Ramadan
As most of the series will be during Ramadan, do you think that may have any effect to Bangladesh's performance?
a) Negative effect: Bangladeshi players are not famous for their physical fitness. With fasting all day, it may effect their stamina, concentration/alertness and they may be prone to muscle spasm, cramp etc.
b) Positive effect: One of the goal of fasting is to purify the mind and sole and that may help to concentrate more to the game. Therefore it will even enhance their performance.
c) Non-Factor: There should not be any effect on players physical abilities.Fasting should not have any effect to performance as have been demonstrated by other Muslim players in cricket and other sports.
d) Not sure which way it will go: There are some positives and some negatives. Therefore it can go either way. The players should take into consideration about the obvious effect of fasting and take appropriate actions.

I wouldn't think that the Aussies would be able to perform (as in playing a Test match) while fasting.
And with Whatmore at the helm, I don't think anybody will be fasting. I would be surprised even if the Pakistanis did.

If I remember it correctly, last year there were matches in ramadan and a few did fast. We had a discussion here about it.

Do our players fast during the match days? I know that everybody should fast with exception of ailing and journey, but I am not sure whether they are fasting those days.

There should be a special dispensation for countries like BD and Pakistan. ICC should have scheduled around Ramadan. It is'nt too hard.

playing while fasting is indeed a trial but it has its upside.
here in america there a number of professional athletes who fast during ramadan and play their respective sports. none was more famous than Hakeem Olajuwon of the NBA's Houston Rockets. He would fast and play not even drinking water or Gatorade during time outs. He would very weak and dehydrated, but the baraka of allah showed up!!! statistically speaking he would have the best games of the season each ramadan.
i remember the ramadan of 1998 when the rockets were playing against Michael Jordan and his bulls. Hakeem's stats for that season are as follows: 23 points per game, 9 rebounds, 2.2 blocks. while fasting, during the game he scored 32 points, grabbed 16 rebounds, and had 5 blocks...his rockets beat the bulls who eventually won the championship that year.
Shareef Abdur-Rahim of the portland trail blazers also is known to fast during ramadan...i remember ramadan 2001 when brother shareef played for the atlanta hawks, he scored his career high 50 points against the detroit pistons. his average was 21 for the season.
besides players like alok and tapash wont be fasting...so why the worries?

As far as I know except for Youhana and Kaneria, almost all of the Pakistani players used to fast. I think I read somewhere during the last Ramadan, but cannot recollect from where.
I hope someone can either verify or nullfy my claim with some link.
(I am too lazy to do the research for myself.:P)

ramadan wont really effect the players performance. comon we really cant get any worst then this. i think fasting may even help the players. they no when they go back to the dressing room they cant eat so they may stay in the wicket more to kill time.lol

The only VISIBLE or more like AUDIBLE effect will be that.. the crowd gonna scream less... The cheering would probably sound like baby goat screaming for milk.
Otherwise... BD will lose by huge margins either way! Fast or no fast. If fasting, they will lose fast - if not fasting, then they will not lose fast.
What did i just say??

Oh no wonder. I thought it was thank you Huda. I mean an international team should not be getting an aggregate score in one test of 113. That is poor.
