I disapprove of Mushifiqur captaincy. It was cute at first, but now its kinda silly

I think he showed what a great leader he is in BPL, not only with his strategies and inspiriation but leading by example with bat and also his gloves

DR was the weakest team on paper and yet the finished on top of the points table thx to his captaincy.

BTW, I dont like Riad

Id rather have Nafees or Junaid in place of Riad. His bowling is not required and his batting, well, doesnt click in intl cricket at all.

This is good news. We need stability. We have three real candidates for the captaincy role-Shakib, Mushfiq, Mashrafee. I believe Shakib is still the best person to lead given his shrewd cricket brain and ability to lead from front. But he has also had discipline and attitude problem which prompted BCB to make the change. Mashrafee is good, but there is no guarantee of him playing due to his injury problems. That leaves Mushfiq as the best option. We have to give him time. And someone needs to put some sense in his head. You have to know to keep your cool

No surprise here. Real surprise was that they had to delay announcing Captain and VC. Mushy and Riad needs to know they are permanent leaders of the team for at least few series.

This helps in decision making. For example, they will watch the CB series and analyze India and Sri Lanka, who are our next opponents. They can watch the game from the comforts of their home.

Nope

But he does work in distracting the opposition with his grunts. Will come handy during sledging MMW

Finally sense prevails. An unnecessary distraction before an important tournament. Although Riyad needs to step up now. To this day he does not have a fixed role in the team. One match he is batting at number 7 and next match he is batting at number 3.

Oh man...I was waiting for the F U Loitta posts

Right decision though...Mashrafee is only just back, and is a long way from being a regular, while Shakib needs to be left alone.

Good luck to them both!

Dont think he is a number 3 batsman. Better at 5 or 6 with the field spread, since he likes to rotate the strike. Has not been in the best of form in the recent times, but he will contribute with ball, bat and in the field. Also he has a good cricketing brain. He deserves the role

I bet TIK will be back. The reserve thing is supposed to be a temp punishment methinks. Otherwise they would have declared the full 15 and not 15-1.

Mahmudullah doesn't need luck... He will go on to play his average boosting innings when the game is already lost. The day he shows some ballz in a crunch situation i will start to have respect for him. For a player who has been a regular for such a long time, i can't think of one fighting innings where he took us to victory or atleast close to it.

I'm hoping so. Hopefully its just a warning that if Tamim once again brings in the attitude problems then he'll get dropped next time around.

As for the captaincy and vice captaincy roles, Mushy deserves to be at captain. On the other hand, I'd rather have Shakib in as VC then Mahmudullah. Mahmudullah isn't exactly a fringe but at the same time he's not completely cemented in to the team. I feel that someone like Mominul could take his spot. Might not be now but could be soon. So I'd rather have Shakib in there as 1 of the leaders. It adds a different dimension to our team.

Unless the world is coming to an end, Mushfiq should remain captain at least until the end of the next WC. Give him time, let him build a team he can work with to ensure we get past 100 in every game on those fast and bouncy Aussie/Kiwi pitches.

Ideally, Shakib would have been captain, but now that Mushy has the job, we should stick with him as he is the second best option. Shakib will likely captain the national team again some time in his career. I agree that he should be VC instead of Mahmudullah though. Mahmudullah as VC is a durghotona.

Thank God that Mushy retained as captain specially after all those selection dramas. It would have been really unfair.

Actually Mahmudullah as VC makes perfect sense if you think about it(put away reality, and look at it from the warped Bangladeshi POV)

Shakib as VC would initiate a running battle between the two via the media. With every bad result - there would be calls of, would Shakib do a better job...an assertive Shakib on the field, would encourage a ton of, Mashrafe/Afridi type comparisons and comments.

This way, Mushy is completely comfortable in his position, knowing that no way in hell is Riad being made captain, and Riad can continue to do what he does best - look good while getting out.

Whilst Mushy captained his side with great credit, I feel two words sum up why DR did so well..Mohammed Sami. Let's give credit where it is due. Sami was outstanding.

Mushy is a regular performer & can lead from the front,
Ryad needs to perform as well.

Isn't the world ending on December 21, 2012?
