James and I were discussing Twenty20 cricket in Bangladesh's domestic cricket over MSN and from that we had this idea... seeing the fact that if Bangladesh trys Twenty20... the players may treat 50 over matches like Twenty20 which cud be disastarous. However if Bangladesh train only a selection of players in twenty20... and these players will only ever come in near the end in 50 over mathces... that way the bowlers will also learn to be more economical.

The way you have considered, this type of blind slogging would obviously affect the performance in 50-over matches. But considering the fact that, in general, our batsmen are shy (or scared) of big hitting, this format will help them to come out of this problem and play lively in all formats. The fact is, even in Twenty20 you need to be watchful for the merit of the incoming ball, and if the players can get used to perfect slogging in this format he can do it elsewhere, then that will be a plus point for 50-over matches.

Even if 20/20 becomes the success it is touted to be, most cricketeers would concentrate on their test cricket abilities in order to be selected for tests. Those that are pigeonholed into being these last 20 overs specialists would really hesitate to be tagged. Above all they would not jeoperdise their chances for test selection. The scenario we are talking about is still a bit a long way off.

It wouldn't hurt Rafique or Mahmud to learn how to hit out and also to not conceed runs

Agreee with you Hfan. Also some of the top order could learn to have a bit of a slog. I hope it goes well for the national players and they benefit from this form of cricket

I am expecting some new talents with big-hitting skill will be found during this tournament. We need more of them for our ODI team.

twenty 20 will not make good for BD as all their top batsmen are struggling now these days. twenty 20 demands only hitting, but at the same time not much technical is required there. batsmen have to hit hard and blindly to score maximum runs. bd players already have the tendency to play causally (vettory says, most of the time bd batsmen got out casually), so if they play twenty 20, they will never try to play quality cricket. and , it will ulimately finish their capability of playing test cricket, where only the true batsman can survive. it mean bd's score will remain within 200 in tests, if the players adopted the style of twenty 20

twenty/20 is not good for BD, as some one stated it is only good for those established countries such as england who are basically trying to attract young people to cricket. county cricket in england is of a very high quality and competition, but it doesnot draw in the crowds like a 20/20 match or evn a test match or ODI.

Its a money making scheme and just pure entertainment, players dont learn much from it, its just slogging!!!!! for spectators its great but for the development for BD cricket not so.

BD board should establish a decent four day competition, lloyd has also stated this.

I personally feel twenty/20 is all rubbish as far as our country is concerned...For us we need a format where there will be no boundaries or over boundaries & if someone can take a single it shud be counted as a "six"...Thats how these 'teenage sensations' will learn to rotate strike...Without this basic knowledge they will be ribbish for the next 10 years..What all these folks do is either defend or strike...THEY JUST DON'T KNOW HOW TO ROTATE STRIKE !!!
