Default FIFA WORLD CUP SOCCER QATAR 2022

Hello all,

2nd phase ticket application is on from today. Since it's in doha, was wondering if anyone from this site who lives around there planning to attend any games or not.

I had a lot of fun in 2018 in Russia and was lucky enough to see both Argentina and Brazil in r16 games. Also France in group match (twice as other game was against arg). I actually enjoyed outside more being in Russia in that environment and sightseeing than inside the stadium.

Qatar has some unique challenges. Accomodations are non existent. November timing - kids with school, Flights are controlled by qatar airways and is super expensive.

But despite all that, I have managed to get some excellent tickets. I even carted finals but didn't buy because timing doesn't work out.
If anyone here lives in Qatar or planning to go, give a heads up.

I actually have 4 Netherland vs Ecuador game that I wont go to becuase USA and England match is on that day and i will be attending that. SO if anyone wants those ticket :p.

Wish the game was in a different (a bigger) middle eastern country than Qatar - or flights weren't so controlled - it restricts movement and actually touring the area.

The 2026 also don't excite me cuz it's in USA, MExico and canada. I already been in all three. Besides maybe mexico, I think world events in USA/Canada would be just an aftrthought as opposed to else where - when the whole country stops and eveyrthing is focused on football.

Remember when Kazi Salahuddin said Bangladesh would play in the 2022 World Cup when he first became head of BFF? We're 19th from the bottom right now sitting at 192nd on the FIFA rankings.

How much were the finals tickets? Also how much did you pay for the USA vs England game? Just curious.

It's on my bucket list to attend a FIFA World Cup and watch the finals. Hoping Australia can host the 2034 tournament.

I stayed at Millennium plaza Doha. It was an amazing hotel. Qatari families were staying here, so it must be good.

Yeah, from the 80s to 2000s Bangladesh used to dominate South Asian football. We'd always make it to the finals almost always to lose to India after a well fought match. We were like the Brazil and Argentina of South Asian football.

Nepal and Maldives have overtaken us, and we are losing to them on a regular basis for the last 4-5 years.

India actually saw a remarkable improvement to their side in the last 10 years or so. They have qualified for two consecutive AFC Asia Cups now. Their president didn't mention that India will play on the 2022 World Cup. Someone needs to remind presidents of our sporting bodies that actions speak louder than words.

Why Eleta Kingsley isn't on the Bangladesh team is baffling, he already has a citizenship through marrying a Bangladeshi national in 2012.

Hamza Chaudhry has also expressed interest in representing Bangladesh recently.

A good striker and a defensive midfielder can really help Bangladesh in front and back, I hope they get to play for BD, in case of kingsley i dont get the issue with fifa

Hey. Ticket prices are published for every cup. They are category based. I don't remember from memomery how much thy are but I am not going for finals. I am here for the group stages .

My USA vs Eng ticket was 660 qar per ticket. They are category 2.

It's not the ticket prices rather getting certain tickets and logistics that are more difficult.

For example in 2026, getting tickets will be almost impossible and if u are traveling from outside if usa, visa will be one of the biggest hurdle. It won't be like Russia where visa was streamlined... usa don't give a f.

The availability of hotel was the problem. I sorted all out and ended up with few days hotel, few days ship, few days apartments, couple of side trip in the middle east (ie saudi, uae). If I was traveling alone I would have done a month long trip and tried more adult stuff.

There are few issues in qatar but the games have been good. Should have been included more countries in the region.

There are lot of bangaldeshis here carrying bd flag also ... mostly local I think, hard to tell. For some reason they aren't receptive when I speak bangla with them .. in Russia I met some official ppl from Bangaldesh football federation and thy were happy to see another bangali because hardly any bd ppl were there.... but I think in doha, (also on saudi) - a lot of bangladeshis aren't friendly at all despite me approaching them ...

My bangali taxi drivers so far have been the most receptive of convo.

Another problem is lack of traveling European fans. South American are present in numbers but Europeans are lacking..and a lot of country colors are being worn by our subcontinent ppl which is good to see but sometimes takes away certain atmosphere because they do not know a lot of football culture or chants of the respecting countries.

Saudis are traveling in numbers though and really good to see that.

Lack of alcohol in stadium is also a problem for many.

Those Bangladeshis are kamlas.
Speak to them in English and they will show you respect. Otherwise, they will think you are also a kamla like them.

Btw, do you still have to show the Covid app when entering venues? I went during end of Covid and had to buy a Qatari SIM or it wouldn't work!
