I want to Wish Mr. Pont all the best. His biography looks good. I am just curious to know what our beloved lotus state of mind is as BCB managed to get a much better coach than Klusener. Bechara lotus ki seka tai na khailo...

On a long term, yeah, but accuracy/variations is the key in flat/slow subcontinent pitches in LOI. He should work on that too. But I agree with you, can see Rubel going places under him if he's half good as what reports suggest.

I agree, but pace do matter. Ive seen what those 'accuracy over pace' bowlers achieved ala Irfan Pathan. Rubel's raw pace alone can get him a few early wickets (even if it costs him a bit).
And it's not like he'll ask them to bowl rubbish length at the same pace anyways.
Pont has developed a specialised coaching method known as Advanced Biomechanics Speed & Accuracy Technique and has authored the coaching manual "The Fast Bowler's Bible", which was published in 2006.
Good news. Looks like he is very good choice. Let's see what he can deliver.
So we have two baseball guy in the coaching stuff.

No way. I know what slower ball bouncers are (bowled by broad a lot these days) but SLOBs aints slower ball bouncers, it's called Slower Obsolete Delivery.
Got it from PP, watch Akhtar bowl it @ 1:02, 1:54 and 3:34. Looks like that's what he's talking about.

My bad you are right. I got confused with beamer and bouncer.

I'm not sure but AFAIK he hyped up about a guy called Atul Sharma of whom we didn't even hear before. He said he can bowl express pace and bowl with some bizzare Javelin throw action which he thought would be destructive. And he never bowled in IPL (Pont was the coach of RR I guess). The whole thing is a big goddamn mystery

N'probs The tactic should be to invoke fear in batsman who expects a fiery beamer from the fast bowler and clumsily try to get it away. But on the other had, if it ends up as a beamer, the bowler is screwed

Congrats to Mr. Pont.
Kudos to BCB for clearing the clouds over bowling coach drama. It was surprisingly quick but seems like they made a good choice.
Hope he'd bring some much needed change for our bowlers.
Btw, everyone is getting attention, shouldn't we also get a coach for spin bowlers?? After all, they are our biggest strength in our bowling dept.

Yup Shakibrulz, I think this delivery was first used by Glenn McGrath, it was named the snail ball as it sort of stops on the batsman and has a huge dip. But this is perhaps too hard to master, otherwise we would have seen sever bowlers attempting this ball. Instead most of the pacers opt for the slower bouncers and other traditional slower deliveries.

Agreed, it's hard to control the ball at higher pace, so probably they thought it would be a waste of time. Ian just need to try and help them with the basics, try nothing remotely as challenging as this right now.

hmm...hopefully our pacers can learn something good from him..lets see how he finish his job

He has been shortlisted for England bowling coach in last summer after Otis Gibson's resign. It seems to
me he is somebody like John Buchanan, more theoretical and methodical.Hope it will work for BD

Confused....
They dont need to learn" how to bowl slow" because they already bowl slow
