Monir Hossain: Who is he?
| Matches | Wickets | Average | Economy | Strike Rate | First Class | 58 | 182 | 29.39 | 2.63 | 66.9 | List A | 64 | 98 | 23.66 | 4.37 | 32.4 | T20s | 28 | 22 | 29.86 | 6.98 | 25.6 |
Stats taken as of today from CI.
http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/conte...er/237502.html
Any idea why Monir Hossain hasn't debuted for Bangladesh?

Anyone see him, I remember seeing him in BPL, but that seems to be his weakest format based on the above stats, his numbers are more than decent in first class and list a matches.

He is a SLA, so what?? he has good stats no doubt,BUT! can he compete with Shakib(it pains me to say this) NO!, but Shakib(again it hurts me to say this), is just too good for competitors, he holds a monopoly in his SLA department. We already have the best SLA in the country, yep you guessed it Shakib!
Heck, this guy could just be another MH Rubel(Mosharof Hossain Rubel) or a chucker.

Why does he need to compete against Shakib? when his out for 6 months?
Usually we play two SLA in test (Shakib+Taijul) in sub continent.
Now that Shakib is on a break, can't we try out Monir vs. Sri Lanka as the second SLA. Of course this changes if Shakib returns for SL series.
Also, his list A number is pretty decent. Might want to debut that guy against lesser opposition, just to get a look into him. Would have been nice if we had A team tours.

In test matches we have far more effective SLA then this unknown guy we have taj, shakib
In ODI, we ar e more pace focused attack now. We already have Miraz who struggles in LOI, but he is more likely to get the nod unless Monir produced a godly Domestic performance
In T20is, his economy is too high. Remember if his eco is 7 in BD against BD batsmen it must be 2 fold , against overseas batsmen.
You know his quality when he doesn't get selected in a BPL team.

Shakib is rested. Taijul is the sole SLA for test.
Who will play in SL when Shakib is on a break? which other effective spinner do we have in domestic?

Monir Hossain.
Current match in FC: Khulna Division vs. Barisal Division.
He took 7 wickets vs. Khulna first innings.
http://www.espncricinfo.com/series/8...cricket-league
His wickets include: Mahedi Hasan, Mohammad Mithun, Nurul Hasan, Ziaur Rahman etc..
Not bad.

He should be back before Sl series. If he isn't, Yours truly, Nasir Hossain will be slotted into the squad. I am sorry, but it is improbable that Monir can produce a miraculous performance to be slotted into the side, we have too many SLAs queuing up to join the team, tell monir to get in line.

Saqlain Sajib needs to be given a test and ODI run. Check out his stats.

saw monir in BPL. He played for Barisal. Typical BD sla spinner with no variation

Even if does get a debut, he will probably end up like Mosharof Hossain Rubel.
It was hilarious when some BC members actually wanted a 35 yr old SLA in our squad, it backfired so hard against England

No better than Mosharraf, Saqlain, Sanjamul, Shuvo etc. These guys are domestic bullies. Dont have enough about their bowling to be a threat in international cricket or foreign conditions.
And in int cricket u dont get batsmen who always play across the line, always on the on side.

He apparently can inswing the ball, got Mash that way. Enamul was the other SLA who could inswing/reverse swing the ball.
Saqlain Sajib still will be my number one choice for the A-team.
