Nice post!!
Hope all the players in BD realize that. A test cap is not given only for experience now a days. Those days are over.

well put... BD team er jayga ki aloo potol naki .. je bajar e kinte pawa jaabe?? :P

Rajin should really be a role model for hard-workers... if what Bashar said abt him is really true... that he used to go the nets after everyone was done... and even during lunch breaks etc...

I was never a big fan of Rajin. But he changed my heart. The problem with Aftab and Ashraful is, they can't work on singles. Look at Inzamam. He hardly scores boundary but still maintains a good striking rate in ODI. Aftab and Ash think that all the scores should come through boundary. That's their major problem. That mentality changes their shot selection, make them irresponsible. Look at Alok on the 3rd Match. He hardly hit boundary but what a good striking rate he maintained. Our big and permanent boys should learn from Alok and Rajin although they aren't permanent in the team. Rajin's problem is he often tends to go into shell and doesn't play his usual game. Once he gets confidence in the middle, who can stop him.

I'm vary much familiar with this kind of attitude of rajin. to be honest, only two player of new generation has shown this kind of attitude. rajin and rana. that is a big reason why I like them.

the thing I liked most about his batting is his determination to stay there till the end..... that was very impressive.... he didn't give it up after getting a good start.... thats wat you want from a set batsman.... when they get set, you want them to go and score a big innings....

hope rajin can find his inspiration from the innings he played...
hope he can find a permanent place in the team and keep on scoring runs...

hope he can make all of us proud...
hope he doesnt catch the disease fm ashraful n aftab...the disease of self satisfaction followed by 10 poor innings....

If someone is so keen to improve then there should be appropriate help available in terms of correcting/improving techniques to play certain pitches/deliveries. I think this is not addressed to that extent. We had Mr Matao for a while but who is now taking care of the needs of our specialist batsmen? Everyone has space to improve. They can either struggle at length to figure their deficiencies or the board could arrange help to overcome them.

I guess you never saw his game much but just assumed that he is boring defensive player, but when you saw last match of him you thoguht he just changed his game,, actually he is the same player who used to play same kind of game last few years.. only thing he plays on the moods of team needs. He always plays same sorts of game but unfortunate enough no to have place in our bd team cause one or two failure of good player like him has gone under scape goat story.. thats all.. if you follow his performance from domestic + firstclass matches he is one of the best performer in bd team and his str.avg is very much fair enough..

How can you compare Rajin with Javed? Please clarify in which cases Rajin has got similarity with Javed? Is not the difference is big between the two batsman?

I am not a big fan of Rajin or Golla either. I am also not against either of them.

But I believe that Rajin is a first class version of Javed Omar, and Javed Omar is an ICC trophy version opener.

By that, what I mean is that THIS IS WHAT TEST MATCH STATUS HAS DONE FOR US - OUR PLAYERS.

When Javed Omar started playing, may be his dream was how to be a better player for Bangladesh comapared to other ICC Associate teams.

But, when Rajin Saleh started playing, or rather, after his initial stages in first class cricket of Bangladesh (I believe he was in our inaugural test match as the 12th man, and then spent around 4 years in domestic cricket and then finally chosen for the national team), his main aim was how to be a better player for Bangladesh compared to other test playing nations, how to be a better player in ODIs (thus, his hard work in fielding), or how to be a better player in Tests (thus, his hard work in shot selection, hard work in judging the singles etc.)

I have watched every single ODI & Test match that Bangladesh played since WC'99. Rajin used to be very unconvincing (like JO) while he played and he seemed almost afraid of losing his place in the team while he played (understandable, but self-defeating). Last time I saw Rajin play admirably was during that 3rd ODI against India.

I do not doubt that Rajin has some potential. My original point was that - many players have potential. But a lot of them do not treat a national team berth with the respect it deserves. That's where Rajin won me over.

Hope it clarifies things for you.

Nice to see so many people are praising Rajin. About a year ago, I remember, when he appointed captain, some guy started a thread about his English speaking abilities(which i thought was to discredit his abilities as a captain). but now it's nice to see we are all supporting him for his proven abilities as a batsman. I hope he stays this way, for this is what he promised to become since the dawn of his career.

I totally agree with what Rajin has said with regard to get picked in the final 11 for the BD team. there should be NO excuses if a player does not perform. Even Ashraful should be put though harsh realities if he fails to perfrom(Faruk's warning was intrumental for Ashraful to get back his form) . I think this kinda strict rules will bring about a better pool of players for our national team.

Sauron, I agree with you. The way Ashraful and Aftab are too agressive, similarly Rajin is sometimes too defensive. He has a tendency of going into shell. At some point he's more boring than JO. His defensiveness gives extra time for bowlers to settle in the middle. But it's true whenever he plays his natural shot he performs. Similar inconsistency like Ash, Aftab although dissimilar /opposite reason.

Absolutely, Rajin has won my heart as well with his consistency, technique, temperament and humility about how he carries his innings. I was initially not favouring him, given his inconsistency in previous tours. But from Kenya match onwards, he has demonstrated what a flawless innings he can play. Hats off to him.
