Default Will Spain Vs Saudi Arabia will be another big WC Thrashing??

i was always under the impression that ukraine was a stable (if not good) soccer team....and the 4-0 defeat to spain makes me wonder what will the result of their match against saudi arabia in same group.....

saudi arabia lost 7-0 to some team last WC.....i reckon this is going to be nother one........anyone thinking along the same line?

The only reason spain got 4 goals was becuase of rubbish umpiring. Spain is riding a lot of luck this cup... got the best group.

well, spain deserves a biased refereeing (in their favor) to make up for what happened in Korea 4 years back......

Spain won big because Ukraine played bad. Except for that one penalty, don't recall the referee scoring any goals for the Spaniards. I may have been watching a different game (by the way, Spain is not my fav team - NO bias here).

As for the Saudis, they weren't half as bad. However, the way Spain was attacking even until the very end of the game (maybe that's how they got 4 goals), they looked hungry for more and might put up a better show against the Saudis.

oi qoute ta'r shathe r ekta qoute jog kora uchit chilo - Ukraine played bad but Spain won big because of their attacking football. As I said, they kept on attacking till the very end of the match.

Onno jeta karon ota holo Orphy blamed rubbish umpiring for the 4-goals. Amamr kotha holo, char goal khawar moto kharap khelechilo Ukraine, not taking away anything from Spain though, they deserve all the praise.

Spain is in the easiest group, but to their credit, they play very agressive soccer. This also maybe a reason for their losses against big teams. Their midfielders and defenders attack the opponent's midfielders too much . Against weaker teams this give them advantage and space to launch quick attacks. Against bigger teams it maybe suicide if they can't win the ball. Ukraine has one of the best attacks in Europe but they were stunned to go down 2 goals in 16 mins. Their defense has issues (which is why 4 goals) but it was surprising that they cudn't score a single goal with such an explosive forward line. Maybe going down to 10 man against Spain was a psychological let down.

I watched how they fought back against a spirited Tunisia side. If Tunisia wasn't lucky to have scored first (they fought very well) Spain wud probably be up 2-0 by the half. But that goal turned their game plan on it's head and Tunisia could've gone up 2-0 instead if they pushed more. But in second half Spain just attacked relentlessly and even after tying and going one up, they kept attacking. I think this was totally psychological, because Tunisia went into defensive mode in second half. That makes sense typically but not with Spain who will go all out for goals.

It wasnt a thrashing.

It was worse.

In their selections, in their demeanour and in their style of play, Spain treated Saudi Arabia with a lazy and amused contempt.

And they got away with it.
