Default What kind of an impact will Woolmer have on the Pakistan team?

Well, I know that Woolmer is a world class coach and he had done wonders for South Africa, but I wonder how much he'll be able to do for this Pakistani team. I mean with all due respect to Pakistan, their players are not as disciplined as the South Africans, and create more problems (e.g. Shoaib's complacency). They are more inconsistent as well, and some of them have attitude problems. Overall, imo, Woolmer will have a more difficult time with this Paki side than he had with the Africans.

So what if he fails? Should we put a large part of the blame on the players, or should we blame him on the grounds that being a world class coach as he is, he should've succeeded anyways?

Thoughts?

Woolmer or any other coach is very limited when it comes to coaching Pakistan. Its the internal conflict that keeps them from being the no.1 or no.2 squad in the world. If they can keep that internal conflict away from the matches that they play then you will see wonders.
Woolmer obviously carries the credentials to lead this squad, but the players themselves need to sacrifice the stardom and the luxury in order to be remembered as the most improving squad. But i think Pakistan right now lacks that charisma it possessed in the last 20 years(with this squad)

Before we can discuss Woolmer's contribution to teh Pakistan team we need to know how long will he stay there. If the current Pakistan board follow the tradition of their predesessor and fire him on the drop of a hat, then you can't expect to have any real contribution from him.

On the other hand Pakistan is already a more desciplined side. So, he did have some contribution.
