BCB Official Website
When is the date for launching the BCB official website?
I visited the BCB future official site http://www.tigercricket.com/ couple of time for the last couple of months. No update yet. Is it going to be a big, attractive website full of database and multimedia content? Or just a website to Publish BCB president, BCB Adviser and Sports Minister's message to the "Nation"?

unbelivable....18 lakhs for a website.........i m sure its gona a piece of crap with no insight.......banglacricket should be the official cricket site for bd... and all the selectors should visit the forum before they make decisions for the team...obviously ppl here know better than the selectors wats going on...

i have seen in a clip in this site, that atahar and prince are among the selectors. Then we have an efficient bunch up there for selection I guess. atahar and prince played cricket for a long time and they know about local leagues very well. Faruq himself is not bad for selections.
the current 11 selected for the two tests against zim are undoubtable the best 11 for bangladesh. ther was no mama-chacha business.

Let's do some numbers: 18 lakh taka = $30K
Think of what goes behind a professional web venture:
Consider infrastructure cost
Consider personnel cost
Consider O&M for a year
Is 30K really so much?

Why converting into USD? Are they developing, managing, hosting, and maintaining in USA?
The infrastructure cost may be similar. But for the rest, it will be much cheaper in Bangladesh.
On second thought, may be not. Last year I visited to Bangladesh, every thing was so expensive.. I was almost out of money at the end of the 3-week visit.

I converted to US$ to give some perspective, since many if not most members here are US based.
Again, playing the numbers game.
Let's say 3 FTE for a year @ 15K taka per month.
That's already over 5 lakhs.
This assumes of course a professional site is being created. If it is a 5 pager, with 3 pages dedicated to message from this and that and 2 static pages of schedules cut and pasted from Cricinfo or BanglaCricket, then some bhaigna got a gift from some mama.

True. Then you add 30 Cup Cha with Ta, 10 Pack Cigarette, and 10 Khilli Paan ( from that store in Dhanmondi that sells TK 350/- per Khilli) every day, that also adds up a lot.
Nothing is free in Bangladesh anymore.

That's true and you also have to accept that people are now a days earning a lot. When I was in BD I used to get 25K/ month including over time. It was my second job. For me it was a huge amount of money. One of my friend couple of years ago went back to BD after his MSc. There he got a job in a private university and his starting salary was 60K/month. I heard Orascom owned Banglalink now recruiting fresh graduate Engineers. And their starting salaries for fresh graduates are 30000 Taka! Don't know is it true or not but this is also a fact that this kind of jobs are very limited in BD.

In reality, one FTE is enough for 3 month to develop it. To run it... it should all be menu driven, so anyone in BCB can maintain. Add 10 hours of support deal per month.
Hosting? get BC deal for 60/year.
I can't see it needing any more.

We hope!
Calculate the number of hours you have put into BC to get it to a presentable shape. Multiply it with some hourly rate. Factor in the other volunteers.
I am not defending BCB or anything - just trying to put things in pesrpective - to me if the site is done right and the cost includes O&M - the number does not seem as outrageous to me as it orginally did.

i agree with what u are tryin to say, i know web companies/designers in the u.k which charge over 50k pounds for a professional website, for a new company, that is 50 lakh taka
