Cmon...Thats being hard on your team. They might not have lived upto their standards as a whole, but a few of them did pretty well...Sehwag for one. Out of three matches, one century and one 48. Ganguly too. One 89 and one 66 out of three matches. Yuvraj, one 80-something and a 47 in three matches. This is my Flop XI:

WEST INDIAN TEAM (Except Sarwan and Chanderpaul. Insert Habib and Aftab)

Here I propose a balanced team:

1. SN
2. Gayle/Uthapa
3. Aftab
4. HB (c)
5. Yousuf
6. Flintoff
7. Mushfiq (wk) Ref.
8. Dalrymple
9. Fernando
10. Danish Caneria
11. Ntini

* Non test playing teams are discarded because they would provide skewed statistics.

At least, they did not show the by-runs
Actually, stats of wicket-keepers are influenced by the performance of the bowlers as well. Most of the wicket-keepers did their jobs well in this world cup. Mushfiq missed some tough chances and some edges fall just short of him. The main thing was his inexperience. With time, he will catch up for sure.

I find it amusing as how come some of the members put Micheal Hussy in the flop team?? you guys must be kidding..

He did not get the chance to perform in the cup...
its not his fault if the team was winning by 10, 9 and 7 wickets when he bats lower down the order...
and when they were batting first and piling up 300+ runs, most of it was taken by Hayden, Ponting and Clarke..( add Gilly in the finals..)...

Mr. Cricket hadnt had any decent chance to bat..
and the only chance he was given, against Ireland, to score a meagre 92 to win, he remained not out and scored some 40 odd runs or something...

so..how come he became a flop??

It is a personal opinion but i think the world cup flop-team should be pulled up from teams that have played atleast 8-10 matches or until the semi-finals.

If a player hasn't played well in a couple of games before the main-round and his team got knocked out, it's not af air criteria to use the players as the flop-case.

For my team (Worls Cup Flop Team) Pick from the following:

1. The executives from ICC
2. WC2007 managemnt team
3. Local Authority
4. The video broadcaster (comapny)

Why?

- The WC2007 was too long.

- The Final game was a mess

- They didn't take into consideration about the weather condition of WC around march/April

- No flood lights in stadium

- The way they handled security

- The Way they handeld Pak Coach's murder

- The closing ceremony was below par

- Too many games was chortened due to bad weather and therefore reduced the charm.

- The video stream broadcaster was terrible by not giving periodic update when game was stopped for hours. They gave boring music insted of keeping us glued in TV with highlights or interviews

- Lot of cases the work of cameraman is close to pathetic, specially the final game. Whem a batsman hits a ball the camera follows the ball zoomed in ... instead of showing ( split screen or something) the whole field. There was no way for us to know whether its going for boundery or going to a fielder.

.... this is just a few.

Flopped Umpire : Steve Bucknor (For giving Mahela out in Final, other umpire's did worse but didnt expect this from an umpire of his class)
Flopped Venue: Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, Antigua
Flopped Captaincy: Brian Lara
Flopped Coach: Flecher

Satistics are like bikinis, what they reveal is interesting but what they conceal is vital.

Lol . Interesting analogy. You almost compelled me to think about something statistically, I hope the dames wont mind.
