Gazi should focus on bowling and owning alone now... He can forget his batting until he masters his bowling. A Murali didn't need to be able to hold a bat; yet turned a legend.
Amra always beshi khaien chai; original er cheye, fai te interested beshi..

Wonderful post.

What an asset for Bangladesh cricket!
In this flat track of Galle and in their own backyard, Herath and Mendis failed to claim more than 1 wicket each.
Whereas Sohag claimed 3 wickets. The number could be more if Jahurul didn't drop two dollies.
And don't forget the fact that those two wickets were one of the two best players of modern cricket (Sangakara and Dilshan).
More importantly he had to toil hard for those wickets. Unlike Mahmudullah's gift to Herath and Enamul's gift to Mendis.
This guy is our future, Murali, Ajmal, Swann, you name it.

Haven't seen enough of his batting but for sure unless he has the potential to be a genuine all rounder and make the team on batting alone then he should definitely focus on bowling. The middle order is coming good and that's where he would be batting so not really any need for him to focus on batting much atm. We don't want him to lose his bowling touch.

What i like about him is how he is learning from every situation and improving. Thinking cricketer. Razzak may have so much experience, but still he keeps making elementary novice mistakes. Gazi seems to be of a different league.

couldn't find the Sohag Gazi thread, this one will have to do.
Love this guy, bowls with great control and is pretty orthodox. I can see him doing well overseas as well as in the sub continent. Need to keep developing him for the long formats. Not get bogged down learning 6 doosras, need that offbreak to turn more and more.

I don't mind him getting out cheaply as long as he bowls so well, but really, I do think he's much better a batsman than a slogger. Wouldn't want him to waste time on his batting though, keep bowling well and be the strike bowler.

He didnt get the rhythm on today. If Sanga was not dropped, he might be able to find the rhythm.

I and you, have we over valued Gazi's potential?

No. He is into his 3rd test only. It's true that he is an amazing potential. But he is bowling against few best batsmen of spin in the world. And he is the only genuine spinner in the team in this test. We must not forget the the wicket didn't offer much turn or bounce today for the spinners.
He needs a mentor right now beside him. It's better if the mentor is Saqlain. If not, at least Shakib would be a great guide for him.
