ব্যাচেলর এবং কমবয়েসী যারা আছেন... আশা করি দূখঃ ভরা সারকাজ্‌মটা বুঝবেন এবং মাইন্ড খাবেন না! আপনাদের ক্ষমতার উপর অবাক বিস্ময় ভরা শ্রদ্ধা আমার আজীবনের! এই ভয়ঙ্কর নতুন সিচুয়্যেশনে আপনা যতই বিব্রতকর অবস্থার মধ্যে পড়ে থাকেন না কেন, এখনও আমার কেন জানি মনে হয় পুলিশ-প্রশাসন, সমাজপতি, বুদ্ধিজিবী, গুরুজন, শিক্ষক... এরা যতই হিতোপদেশ দিক কিম্বা ‘টাইট’ মারুক না কেন... আসল কাজের কাজ করতে পারবেন শুধু আপনারাই! ‘হোয়াট রিয়েলী গোজ থ্রু আ ইয়ং মাইন্ড’ ... এই কেমিস্ট্রী শুধু আপনারাই বুঝবেন... এটাকে শুধু আপনারাই হ্যান্ডেল করতে পারবেন! বাকি আমরা সবাই শুধু ‘ইয়া নাফ্‌সী-ইয়া নাফ্‌সী’ করবো আর নয়তো আত্মরক্ষার্থে মার্কিন মুল্লুকের মত বন্দুকের লাইসেন্সের জন্য হা-পিত্যেশ করবো!

ইট ইজ... আফটার অল... আ মাচ্‌ বিগার ওয়ার দ্যান ডার্টি ভিলেজ-স্টাইল পলিটিক্স! ‘বুড়া ভাম’ কিম্বা ডান-বাম... সবাই গোল্লায় যাক আজকে... ব্রিলিয়েন্ট ইয়ং মাইন্ডেরা আপনাদের অতিমানবীয় আর টেলিপ্যাথিক থট্‌ ইঞ্জিনটাকে ‘বুট’ করে ফেলেন! আমাদের মত ‘ওল্ড-হ্যাগার্ড’ দের চিন্তা-ভাবনা, কনফিডেন্স... সব গত শতাব্দীর বস্তাপচা ফিলোসফীতে তৈরী। রাত বারোটার পর ‘টক-শো/তিতা-শো’ করা পর্যন্তই আমাদের দৌড়! চোখ বন্ধ করে ফিউচার ওয়ার্ল্ডটাকে কল্পনায় গড়ার সংকল্প নেয়ার ক্ষমতা আপনারাই রাখেন... আমরা না!

আপনাদের ‘আন্ডারগ্রাউন্ড ওয়ার্ল্ড’ আপনাদেরই থাক... তবে সেখানকার বিগড়ে যাওয়া কেমিস্ট্রীতে এবার হাত দেন আপনারা। পচন যেখানে ধরেছে... সেটা আগামীর দুনিয়াকে বদলে দিতে চাইছে... ওই সোসাইটিটা কিন্তু আপনারাই গড়বেন আর ভোগও করবেন আপনারা!

আমরা শংকিত, বড় শংকিত...এখনতো রাতের ঘুম পুরো হারাম!
ঘুমতো আজ দুরে থাক, এখন বাথরুমে গেলেও মনে হয়, এই বুঝি বদমাইশগুল মেরে ফেলল, মেরে ফেলল আমাকে।

গতকাল রাতে ঢাকা থেকে ফিরে এলাম। বশির ভাইয়া, আপনাকে ফোন দেই নি, ক্ষমা করে দিবেন। শুধু খুব অসুস্থ আব্বার পাশে বসে ছিলাম ৫টি রাত।

সচ্ছল পরিবারের সন্তান এবং অভিজাত শিক্ষাপ্রতিষ্ঠানের এসব ছাত্ররা কেন এ পথে গেল? দারিদ্র্যের কারণে বা বিশেষ একটি শিক্ষায় শিক্ষিতরাই জঙ্গিবাদে আকৃষ্ট হয়—এই ধারণা সঠিক নয়। যাঁরা জঙ্গিবাদের আকৃষ্ট হচ্ছেন, তাঁরা অর্থ বা জাগতিক কোনো কারণে ওই পথে যাচ্ছেন, এমনটা নয়। তরুণদের প্রথমে ধর্মের প্রতি অনুরক্ত করা হয় এবং পরে ধর্মের ভুল ব্যাখ্যা দিয়ে উদ্বুদ্ধ করা হয়। সামাজিক অবস্থান এ ক্ষেত্রে কোনো কাজে আসে না।

এসব তরুণকে ফিরিয়ে আনতে হলে ধর্মেরই সঠিক ব্যাখ্যা দিয়ে ফিরিয়ে আনতে হবে। তাঁদের চক্র ভেঙে ফেলতে হবে। একই সঙ্গে সঠিক মূল্যবোধসম্পন্ন মানুষ হিসেবে গড়ে তুলতে হবে। পরিবারকে সচেতন হবে এবং সাংস্কৃতিক কর্মকাণ্ড দিয়ে জঙ্গিবিরোধী মানসিকতা গড়তে হবে।

(This is sort of like an open letter to all the new-bloods and fresh young minds in this beloved forum of mine. Members who joined in here after 2009-10 aren’t supposed to recognize me... but that’s mostly irrelevant to what I am writing... and it is kind of an extended translation to the thread-opening Bangla post... just to reach a few more readers...)

Yes, I am thinking about the idea of passing a very critical baton to you, the fresh minds in their teens or 20’s or early 30’s. This... because of the very fact that our ‘self-declared-opponents’ have done the same... they have, as it appears, much successfully started to recruit you and your minds into their idea of a ‘New World Order’ as they claim it to be.

Yes, I am ready to admit that we haven’t been that bright so far in taking proper actions to keep the world in balance. And by ‘we’... I point to the generations who are in charge of ‘everything’ today... society, religion, politics, economy, law-and-order and all that. I guess we (starting from people in their mid-thirties and upwards) have tried a lot... but perhaps we’re simply not equipped or sharp enough to cope with the weird nature of the anarchy that is shaking the whole world including Bangladesh right now... let alone fight it!

But YOU, the all-powerful and clairvoyant youth, are the ones in focus in every possible ways, both good and bad right now throughout the world. We, the ‘OLD’ ones, aren’t targeted as much, for so many reasons... most obvious of them being that we’re much less likely to ‘change tracks’ of our lives and thoughts drastically.

No matter how much embarrassment or surveillance all of you are put under at this difficult point of time... I, personally, believe that young guys and girls full of dreams, vivid faiths, sharp emotions and unbelievable capabilities are the only ones who can stand up and actually do something about this extremely fanatical terrorism-trend throughout the globe. The rest of us can boast as much as we like... but, I suppose, our minds are too much full of craps from the bygone ages which hold tiny weight right now.

To be frank, what thoughts and emotions make your world is none of our business. What you make of the world, the dirty politics around or society or religion is also, perhaps, of very little importance here. What really matters right now, is that ‘some’ of your fellow brilliant minds have fallen prey to something too ominous. And that... is threatening to change our lives and our worlds into something unacceptably bleak. All these thoughts of hate and revenge, no matter how justified they might sometimes look from one point or the other, are on their way to shatter a future world that today’s youth will have to live their lives and dreams through.

You and only you can really guess what goes on through a fellow-mind... we’re just too dumb for that. Kick out all the confusions and reach out to every other young souls. It is only YOUR determination that can become the beginning of the end to all this! Crackdowns and all other methods that OUR expired brains can think of, are just too primitive to even affect something this complex!

So perhaps it is time for you to accept the baton... take control of ‘your time’ that is coming ahead, even though it may feel like something a bit too early...
