Shamim was one of the commentator and we still managed to win the game?

1. Bd doesnt need a player to win, whether its ash, sakib or tamim or anyone else. But I still think Ashraful is better than Raqibul and should be in the team. Cricket is a very individual game and Bd needs match winners in the team to do well against better teams.
2. Agreed, Swann is a bit over rated, but he is still a good offie. Even though I really hate that guy!

its coincidence. i'm NOT suggesting the team needs Ashraful to win games, since they've obviously done it without him several times in the recent past.
however, you cannot say the null hypothesis is therefore necessarily true ie "the team plays better without Ashraful".
thats a logical fallacy. eg "without A, B happens, therefore with A, not B happens".

What good does Rokibul bring to the team? Show me ONE reason.
Between the two, I would take neither if given a choice. But if there's no choice, I'ld go for Ash over Rokibul...at least he can pump up the team sometimes.

I couldn't agree more. Think for a moment--when was the last time Ash won us an ODI game? Then ask yourself--when was the last time Ash played a supporting role in winning a match? might've been sometime in 2009. If you're looking for an innings played more recently then ask--when was the last time Ash played an innings of any significance?
I remember that date and looked it up on statsguru to confirm--it was Januray 4th 2010 when he scored 75 against SL in a losing effort.
Fifteen months have passed and here are his ODI innings since...
29, 13, 4, 5, 1, 31, 20, 9, 14, 13, 6, 1, 11 @ a whopping avg of 12.07
Where's the Eid innings people talk about? Eid comes twice a year, right? it's been 15 fricken months and not a single innings of any significance!
Even someone like Raqibul played an important innings against Ire only two games ago and we start bashing him for failing two matches later. And what has Ash done in the meantime? Nada

Raqibul got a gem of a delivery. pitching on middle and taking the top of off stump. Give the guy a break, anybody starting their innings wud have difficulty not getting bowled to that. He fielded very well. Saved runs at extra cover. Thats what ASH cant bring. He aint a great fielder, thats why i wud keep raqibul over ashraful.

Rakibul is consistent, don't belve me? then look at his avrge.
Besides he is an excellent fielder.

WC average 23 versus average 6 is not good enough? Their last one year average comparison is not good enough for you?
"pump up team" is just hype, no value in my book. If we need a player to pump up, we should rather included Momtaz in the team.
Rokibul has limited value. But Ash is already expired good, he has no value what so ever. So I would always choose Rokibul over "no good anymore" Ashraful.
Now if you want SN instead Rokibul, Then I can agree.

Couldn't agree more. Ashraful is lucky to be in the 15, hope his career comes to an end after this world cup. Hard to believe that he has been handed Grade A contract.

Probably. but whenever I've seen him play, the side just looks dire - lacking any fighting spirit. Either way, you're better of without him.

We were really very lucky not to have ASH in place of Riad today. Riad's innings was equally important as Shafiul, and I'm sure ASH would have done nothing at all if he had to handle this much pressure in the middle with 8 wickets down & 58 more to get!

Our batting order needs a reshuffle! Shafiul should come up the order!
