Default Bangladesh grouped with Australia, New Zealand, England and Sri Lanka for 2015 World Cup

Quote:
The tournament will feature 49 matches across 44 days in 14 cities throughout February and March of 2015. Australia's 2014-15 Test summer has been shortened to a mere four matches against India in order to leave room for the cup's lengthy schedule. A 14-team format has the competitors pitted in two groups of seven, each to play six pool matches before the top four in each group advance to the quarter-finals, semis and final.

Pool A: England, Australia, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, New Zealand, Qualifier 2 and Qualifier 3

Pool B: South Africa, India, Pakistan, West Indies, Zimbabwe, Ireland and Qualifier 4

Venue cities: Adelaide, Auckland, Brisbane, Canberra, Christchurch, Dunedin, Napier, Nelson, Hamilton, Hobart, Melbourne, Perth, Sydney, Wellington

Tough group imo.

Pretty much the same type of scenario as WC 2011. We have to beat 2 associate teams and 2 out of the other 4 teams. Another year of so close yet so far.

yeah that's a tough group, will be hard with NZ and SL, england isn't horrible and australia might have recovered a bit by then...the other group however looks pretty coasty for india as the teams are currently.

i am actually glad we are not facing Pakistan, India and South Africa.
I think our chances are good facing Sri Lanka and New Zeland. Hopefully Sanga Jaya and DIlshan will be too old to cause damage by then

yeah i guess SL's performance will heavily depend on sanga, jaya and dilshan, if they're even still playing...but SL have always been a strong ODI team, NZ are a really good ODI team as well. but as we've seen recently SA, WI and Pakistan aren't that good atm...a lot can change in a couple of years though (young players coming of age, older players losing it or retiring).

How on earth the organizer did not give any Bangladesh game in SCG considering the number of Bangladeshi live here. Even Canberra gets a Bangladesh match. Can't believe it. Feeling jealous of bangladeshi people living in Adelaide, Melbourne, Brisbane. Brisbane people are too damn lucky. They got Bangladesh vs Australia match on 21st Feb.

If we played this group at Subcontinent... it would have been easy. But we are talking about Aussie conditions where we face England, Australia, Kiwis and we have to beat 1 of them. Between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, Sri Lanka will me much better to beat in those conditions specially if we have to face Malinga and Kula. But I am happy that we are not facing South Africa.

This is why i felt the Ireland tour would have done a world of good to see:
i) if our pacer bowlers could do some damage at least to the ireland batting order
ii) if our batsman could handle seam bowling in helpful conditions.

instead we opted for a break and bia shadhi

I think our key player will be Nasir and Mushfiq. We will have to see how Shakib does in national colors before I rate our chances of going through. Right now there is absolutely no planning to Shakib's batting and if he flops in the NZ series then as Al Sagar would say
we are doomed!

It doesn't matter what group we're in. We have the same chance against ENG, SL, NZ as we would against IND, WI, PAK. We're also getting Scotland and Afghanistan.

I was really hoping we'd have Taskin ready for this world cup, but looks like that will be unlikely unless he is Tamim'd into the squad.

that not a single game is venued in Sydney. Its against us, but this will be our best shot to go far. Shabbir and a few classy batsmen are needed and pace bowlers.

Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka of all matches at the MCG? Will be weird since 95% of the stadium will be empty.

You have no idea about SL community living in Melb. When Aus plays against SL or Ind, 75-80% of the seats are filled by SL/Ind people.
