It is a bit rich for Australians to complain about the spirit of cricket .
Actually, it's a worrying thought. Weren't there similar "spirit of cricket" complaints against the Windies at the height of their reign? The aussies copped a lot of it too re: walking. Does that mean the pommies will be the next greats? Ugh.

Ponting's just trying to find an excuse to cover his failure to hold on to the Ashes. The worst people to talk about the spirit of the game have suddenly turned into such honest human being. Ponting of all should keep his mouth shut. Loser.

there is some truth in his complaints....... england was bowling twice with 4 bowlers and so they were resting each of their pacers in rotation. jones was out and subbed but there was another sub always on. both these subs are super fielders and cut off lot of runs. anyone in ponting's place would have complained.

As if he was. Do some f**king research before you go critisising the captain of the greatest cricket team on earth.
Ponting has expressed his opinion on the matter since before the Ashes and I for one agree with him

Let me put it this way...
BD playing Canada or USA. The opps are substituting two fielders at one time. And it is effecting the result of the game. What would you fans do? What would HBashar do? What would the coach do? Certainly won't keep your mouth shut. Or would you in the spirit of the game.

England have been using this strategy of subs for a long time and it seems strange it hasn't be brought up before.
The use of specialist fielders is well within the rules and England are not going to change their strategy because Ricky said so and had a tantrum.
If he thinks the England bowlers ae going off and 'resting up' then that is rubbish and he has no evidence to back up these claims. The England bowlers take on lots and lots of fluid to keep them going and nip off for nothing but toilet breaks, the idea that they go off after every spell is complete fiction anyway.
However, I don't think these players should get substitutes whilst taking a leak. But the question has to be asked - why are the umpires letting all these subs onto the field of play? They are the people Ponting should be having a go at, not England. It is just smart thinking from England if you ask me, South Africa were doing it as well in the winter.
As for this 'sprit of the game' stuff. Please Ricky, do me a favour. Talk about hypocrits.
