Default Youtube Features for today: Uncultured project

It's ironic that his name is Shawn. You will know why it is ironic after you watch the video.

I have seen a lot of this guy's videos in the past, and always found it astonishing how youtubers make fun of his terrible Bangla... to me those people are the shameless ones.

There's a huge gap that CBCD's such as him have to bridge in order to really understand the culture back home. His brother, for example, works to promote Bangladeshi culture here at the University of Waterloo, but more often than not gets it all wrong. Bhangra is not Bangladeshi culture. The characters in Hindi movies do not represent Bangladeshi lives.

Taking this into consideration, I applaud Shawn for doing what he is doing - it takes a lot of guts to give up an education and the relatively luxurious life of a Torontian to go back with a CBCD accent and make contributions that, as he mentions in his blogs, could very well serve as a mere drop in the bucket.

I am not surprised by the accent. Actually I have cousins who moved to AUS at their primary level who developed quite similar accents.

Not a bad video, why he is calling it Uncultured. Is it because he is culturally deficient with Bangla language and BD social life ?

Good find... the background music made it more uplifting.

Well I personally don't mind the accent (not that I don't let any chance of having a laugh at a CBCD/ABCD/EBCD/etc for the accent pass by), but getting ridiculed for it in the streets of Dhaka or anywhere else in Bangladesh wouldn't be too uncommon.

Default Uncultured Project: help the cause of ending poverty from the world

Uncultured Project: help the cause of ending poverty from the world

Hey guys,
I would like you to dedicate few minutes of your spare time to check this project and the blogging website uncultured.com. The project was initiated by a student to help the cause of ending poverty from the world. He is doing it in Bangladesh but the poverty is extreme in Darfur/Sudan, Pakistan, India, Afghanistan and most of African countries. You don’t have to donate but just join to bring awareness so that we can make poverty a priority issue in upcoming years. Thanks!

Here is some videos:

How he was inspired:
