Zim Players vs BD Players
With all this talk about BD being the superior team and everyone saying how poor Zimbabwe are meant to be, just how many of the Zimbabwe Team would replace players from Bangladesh in a side? This would tell everyone who is the better equipped team to take the field and this is what I believe:
1. Tamim
2. Sibanda (ZIM)
3. Masakadsa (ZIM)
4. Taylor (ZIM)
5. Shakib
6. Taibu WK (ZIM)
7. Mahmadulla or Utseya ZIM
8. Price (ZIM)
9. Mpofu (ZIM)
10. Vitori (ZIM)
11. Jarvis (ZIM)
With perhaps one or two slight changes, Zimbawe's players would dominate the line up. This is how much progress they have made and is not based on the past like everyone wants to keep going back to for comfort on this forum. We have to face facts that BD is being outplayed by a team galvanized by a great head coach, great batting coach and great bowling coach. Their fielding has been sharper too. They are fit and prepared.
Until we improve the skill levels in the BD players they will continue to be outplayed by the world's worst Test side. My worry is BD will soon have that label.

I would pick Shafiul in place of Jarvis.

Taibu in Tests 25 48 3 1355 153 30.11 (average)
Mushy in Tests 24 47 3 1195 101 27.15 (average)
Taibu in ODIs 137 124 20 3001 107* 28.85 66.77 (strike rate)
Mushy in ODIs 94 85 16 1726 98 25.01 65.57 (strike rate)
Taibu First Class 110 190 20 6592 175* 38.77 (average)
Mushy First Class 49 89 10 2261 115* 28.62 (average)
As keepers they are very similar but Taibu has superior batting records in all areas including average, strike rates and highest scores. The PROOF I am afraid puts Taibu way ahead of Mushy. His first class record, with the first class system far higher in Zim than BD, puts his batting at an average of 38, 10 ahead of Mushy. Bearing in mind the pitches in BD are very batting friendly too.
Mushy has just scored over 100 for his tops scores, but Taibu has made 175 not out in first class and 153 in a Test.
Also Taibu has made TWELVE first class 100s and Mushy just THREE.

You comparing their whole career stats bro... In the past Mushi's keeping was nightmare and cost us lots og games, his batting was inconsistent too.. but recently He is a change cricketers... his keeping is good as well as batting... I havent seen taibu for long time before this series and im not impressed with him at all. That is why I will choose Mushi over him...

Is it ok to produce stats to say Tamim is wonderful or Shakib is amazing and then show Matt Prior averaging over 45 in Test cricket?
I am afraid bhai that the record tells the story, and not temporary form over one of two games. Most of the BD squad average under 30. This is why the batting is what it is.
Taibu's record shows what a fine batsmen he is. His record proves his skill levels. You don't lose skill like that. The saying goes, "form is temporary, class is permanent" if you want to start talking about who is good. Agreed Mushy is vastly improved (which he needed to be or else Jahirul would be playing again) but Taibu is a class act.
What I always find curious is how the most biased fans can find something in a crumb of comfort to make a point when the overwhelming odds and stats prove the case against them. You base your views on what you 'think' and not what is indeed fact.

If you are using fact/Class instead of current form then why would you pick vusi sibanda instead of Imrul kayes...? Just because of he did play two good innings recently.. here is their internatioanl stats-
Kayes-
Tests | 14 | 28 | 0 | 488 | 75 | 17.42 | 1082 | 45.10 | 0 | 1 | 73 | 0 | 13 | 0 | ODIs | 40 | 40 | 1 | 1195 | 101 | 30.64 | 1818 | 65.73 | 1 | 9 | 122 | 9 | 9 | 0 |
Sibanda-
Tests | 4 | 8 | 0 | 164 | 78 | 20.50 | 303 | 54.12 | 0 | 1 | 20 | 2 | 4 | 0 | ODIs | 88 | 87 | 2 | 1958 | 116 | 23.03 | 3184 | 61.49 | 1 | 14 | 217 | 18 | 28 | 0 |
If you are talking about class then Ash is the most classical batsman in history of bangladesh cricket but look wha is doing out there..

The Zim's coaches have made all the difference, good bowling, good batting and good fielding.
How can BD ever beat this team. Eventiually they will be the last on ICC lineup.

u cant say this basis of one series only..u dont have to go further..just go back to the previous zim vs Ban series...from that series u'll find it very hard to take a single zim player even...so plz give this a break..let zim come to BD and see how they perform..

Take out Tamim and its a good line up. I don't think he has done enough in this series to get a spot.

Here is my test XI: 1 Tamim 2 Sibanda 3 Hamilton 4 Taylor* 5 Shakib 6 Taibu 7 Mushfiq 8 Price 9 Vitori 10 Jarvis 11 Mpofu 12th man: Rubel... Chigumbura misses out because there's another all rounder already ie Shakib this means Mushfiq can play at 7 and keep wicket and Taibu can concentrate on his batting. I would have loved to fit Ervine and Mawoyo in, but it have turned the whole side into the actual Zim team.

I think most of these ZimBD teams listed above will change after we see Zimbabwe perform against other teams in more unfamiliar conditions.
Zimbabwe have just got their 80-20 right. They build their team around a few world class performers-who are solid consistent players-no flash of genius syndrome. In their current team for example: Taylor and Jarvis. Before it used to be Flower and Streak. Remove Taylor and Jarvis, second test will be ours.
Sadly Bangladesh lacks such players. Even if the guys have talent they dont possess the consistency.
Mindset is another issue. How did Keegan Meth and Graemme Cremer score more than our batsmen? Their concentration, shot selection, determination was admirable. Didnt get overawed with the situation. Even Nasir couldnt do so

$hit happens from time to time.
NZ won a Test in Australia. NZ won a Test in SL. SL won a Test in RSA. We lost two in ZIM.

Or maybe it's because we are genuinely $hit not because $hit happens from time to time.

Always liked Zimbabwe. Despite having the least amount of backing out of the Test nations, they still have produced some quality players. A real shame that they've had so many issues or else they could've a been a much better team by now. Compared to our team, they might not have the flamboyance and flair that our batsmen have but they still have stronger mental strength, grit, and application which ends up being the difference when playing on sporting tracks

Very true. Zimbabwe could have gone miles ahead of us if they were managed better. So many players who could have been a part of this team-Sean Ervine, Andy Blignaut, Tatenda Taibu, Craig Ervine. At one point they also lost guys like Flower, Goodwin, Neil Johnson etc.
Zimbabwe coaches are also top quality. Andy Flower, Duncan Fletcher, Dave Houghton. Heath Streak and Grant Flower could be the next two good coaches. And we can see how Mangongo has more influence than Shane Jurgensen.
