Default what can football give us?

ok, the topic is old
it is already decided that cricket won't take place in BNS any more...it is handed to football...
I really wonder what football can give us in near future (or ever)...we are ranked around 150 in world and the rate of progress is...we all know
I really wonder how the decision makers even compared the contribution of cricket to football !
can football give us the joy we got on '97 -winning ICC trophy?..on 30th may '99 beating pakistan in WC, december 2004 beating India, or like the recent success against Zim...our first test win....
We, as a nation are heavily loaned to cricket/ criketers for we had our greatest few moments after the liberation all associated with this 'strange' sports.
It seems as a nation we are really 'strange'.

It just proves that the government who made this decision has not got the best interest on they country at heart.

Surely Bangladesh will get more International recognition at Cricket than football.

1. Election is controled by football kormokorta.. so there is a political pressure on this...
2. And also most mps don't understand cricket, and they need entertainment, and football is their choice...
3. Cricket people couldn't remove jafarullah sharafat and box from cricket commentary so they gave their old job back....
4. Araft hates the motijhil jam
5. ReNaming the stadium was a big mistake...
and so on

the decision to allow football at the BNS is a totally political issue, the BNP dont want a sport which has the whole nation proud and gripped with excitement being associated with the bangubandu awami league party. this is what the stadium implies, they the BNP tried to rename the stadium the national stadium but it didnt work, so they just felt they had to kick cricket out.

if the awami league win the forthcoming elections the stadium may change hands again, its very possible.

Default Sigh!

This is how rumours spread! To clarify a couple of points:

1. BNS was first given to football while AL was in power.

2. Our cricket board, including Whatmore, wanted a purpose built cricket ground with proper training facilities, indoor nets etc, which can be done at Mirpur!

Why do we have to always find a government conspiracy, whichever government is in power, without first finding out the facts?

The BNS has a place in all our hearts. We have all watched many matches there and its sad that we won't anymore. But sometimes, you just have to let go! If England can let go of the old Wembley stadium with the two towers, one of England's greatest sporting venues along with Wimbledon and Lord's, in favour of this new monstrosity that they are building now, surely we can deal with this switch to Mirpur.

just to clarify coz i am a arsenal fan ( big up the gooners!!! great win vs sheff utd) any way they did not give up wembley, they are moving from HIGHBURY to ASHBURTON GROVE (2006-07).

England football team played at OLD wembley and will do so again in the NEW wembley. GOOD countries like the UK will never switch tennis from wimbledon, football from wembley or cricket from lords, they will make the existing stadium even better.

U know and I know its all POLITICAL, so stop kidding urself mate, wake up and smell the coffee.

They don't need to switch tennis from Wimbledon and Cricket from Lord's because they have enough stadiums for each sport. We were having to share a stadium with football, and instead of kicking football out of BNS and being left with a stadium which has no room for expansion, we decided to switch to a stadium which has ample room for expansion and development. A move that was requested for by the BCB!!

As for politics, what politics did AL gain out of declaring that cricket will be switched to Mirpur, which will then be used exclusively for cricket? They just didn't go through with it all this time because the funds had not been allocated for upgrading the stadium at Mirpur, which it now has been! Maybe you ought to smell the coffee, or find out the facts!

Even if AL thought of giving it to Football that doesn't mean they were not powred by the football kormokortas...

And finding the fact do u know the buet eng and arch did a survey during the 1st bnp power and gave the gov exact amount of money/stuff they will need to build/rebuild the stadium.....

And if u can turn a small football field to full cricket stadium why can't u convert a cricket stadium to a full c one??? thats rubbish and i smell some people making lots of money...

And the most popular sports in our country has to leave their place to the 2nd one ......

And Al shouldn't have named the stadium in the first place .. that was their fault cause to me it was and will be dhaka stadium not some .......
