That's some low quality prawn you got there. Ironically Bangladeshi prawn are the best in the world in my opinion.

Bhapa Chingri – Steamed shrimp with mustard and green chili

Shrimp was always a favorite dish in our house. Of course, growing up, we called it prawns. Shrimp was supposed to be those er um shrimpy little things that gets caught in the net as you trawl and you just scoop them out. Bengalis do use steaming in a numberof recipes and this simple yet extremely delectable recipe is one example.

Prawn is a kind of Poka!, if you feel it tasty then you should also try out some cockroaches. Its better than prawn in terms of health

Grasshoppers are pretty good. Deep fried with hot sauce. I also recommend chocolate covered ants. Both are highly nutritious and packed with protein.

so by that logic, a cow is a mammal just like human, so you should try to make a gavi your girlfriend too since it's easier.

Aaaah, Chingri/Prawns/Shrimp
My favorite food; the only problem with them is that they are high in cholesterol.

Chingri Malaikaari is probably my favorite curry to eat with bhaat.

And I agree that Bangladeshi prawns taste better when cooked in our way; then again many chefs would cringe at the extent to which they say we "overcook" them.

Not everyone lives in NY and earns enough to buy meat at the local grocery. But for much of the poor - the inefficient delivery mechanism of protein for growth via plants->animals->humans can be mitigated by switching to a more efficient source - insects.

Right, and out of all people, you would know a lot about poverty

I bet you are one of those ppl who buys those expensive panta bhaat plate on pohela boishak. Not that there is anything wrong with that :d.

I really used to love prawn, but one day in one tv channel an unknown mowlana told that prawn is makrooh, that is it is not advisable to eat as it is a kind of poka!(insect). The way he told it just made me to lose my appetite over it. Though my sister gets the better half of it now when we cook. BTW The pictures are so delicious over here!

Its nothing to do with being insects or not

All "fish" is Halal for us.
Some schools of thought consider fish to be only bony fish and prawns are makrooh to them
Others consider "Fish" to include prawns, and thus Halal

And both schools are talking crap.... It's clear in Quran what's halal and what's haram....what's fish and what's not fish needs to refer to science not Mullah.

5:96- Lawful to you is the game of the sea and its food, a provision for you and for the travelers .....

In Afg, mullahs say fishes without the shell/Aash is Makruh...(Bcoz that doesn't suit their way of consuming fish...they only fry )

So...enjoy your Prawns...:-)

I am the only one in my family to have shrimp allergy. My mother made a shrimp biryani lunch for me when I was in 1st grade. I had a severe reaction and then stopped eating and it has been almost 18 years. So while they make all good looking dishes in my house, I have to eat something else.
