Default Anyone else nervous about the series against Afghanistan?

No doubt we have improved in this format over the years. Unfortunately, it has been almost 11 months since we last played an ODI match.

For some reason I have been feeling very much nervous about this match. The wound from that defeat to Afghanistan in Bangladesh is still present as a scar. To the Afghans, they have everything to gain. Even if they lose, they are losing out on nothing. Its a bonus tour for them given how it was not scedhuled to begin with. They are facing a team which they have already beaten 2.5 years back.

2.5 years might be a long time and we have improved since then, but I am sure that Afghans have too. They are not of our level by any means but still a dangerous side filled with spirit. We on the other hand, haven't played an ODI series for a long time while Afghanistan have done so 3 months back in Irish soil and I believe the series was drawn. Leave alone ODIs, we haven't played any international cricket for 6 months.

There are so much to worry about for us. No Fizz, cloud over Sunny and Taskin's bowling action test, Tamim just recovered from injury and above all poor selection in the bowling department. I might be paranoid, and will admit that I had been far more nervous before the WT20 2014 encounter and 2015 CWC match against the same opposition but on both occassions, especially in the WT20, we thrashed them making a mockery of my worries.

However, a lot is stake on this series for us. Rankings, Confidence, form. Notice how our 2017 scedhuled is packed and 2018 will be as well, because of our performance since Nov 2014. We can't afford to lose even a single match against the Afghans. Else the knives will be out.

Creating unnecessary tension mate. Let's enjoy the game ... you should be happy that cricket is alive in Bangladesh. When you would think about the Pakistan cricket fans, you might feel even better...

nop - have you seen them playing ODI? .. I saw the last ODI in Canberra against us - No offence to the under dogs but apart from 2 or 3 players, they looked completely clueless. Very good T20 side though, I would have to admit.

I hope my words don't come back and haunt me but should be a walk in the park.

Hamid Hassan and Shapoor Zadran excluded...two most feared seam bowlers from the afghan side...maybe their recent performance wasn't up to par. Interesting.

Calm down guys. Not to long ago, out main bowling attack was spin. The guys who used to spin the ball for us are all still there. If pace fails, spin is still an option. The regular batsmens are all there aswell ... whats with all the hickups? I would understand getting worried against ENG with this team but AFG? Really now ...

Huge number of crowd will be on our side, and that will be enough to flatten Afghans. Meanwhile lets enjoy the game after a long time.

Perhaps the pressure because this is a potential banana peel? This is AFG we are talking about. On their day on a flat track they can be dangerous.

BCB XI reeling at 39/4 chasing 234, this was what I was worried about.

well we have to bowl em out under 200... batsmen are pretty scrappy at the moment and it will take a while before they can score consistently again.

Don't think too much. It's a game, and on their day Afghans can beat anyone. Does it matter? Not much ... Bangladesh is comfortably ahead of them.

What I did not understand is why BCB XI decided to field first after winning the toss !

A team filled with plenty of National team regulars lost to Afghanistan by 67 runs! Now explain me why I have no reason to be nervous

No. Never. I'm confident we will beat them badly. No arrogance just pure belief. But we can't take them lightly, they will be tricky, we will need to play well Afgannistan has good prospects and with more experience they will be starting to beat Pakistan in ODI's soon
