Finally we are progressing. Currently 41st. Facing Vanuzuela. We should beat them comfortably.

I have a question. Why didn't we send all our GMs? Why two IMs are there? India is very strong. All five GMs have way better ratings than any of players we sent. 3 ranked in 2600+, 2 ranked above 2547. Russia has all five over 2700+. wow!! They are the #1 team and deservedly so.
+++
1st round - BD vs Holland: .5 - 3.5 (Holland had all 4 GMs with rating 2600+)
2nd round - BD vs Uruguay: 4 - 0
3rd round - BD vs Libya: 3 - 1
4th round - BD vs Denmark: 1.5 - 2.5
5th round - BD vs Albania: 3.5 - .5
6th round - BD vs Venezuela: 0 - 0

It is surprising that all our GMs with the exception of Al-Rakib are in the high 2400s or low 2500s. It is a shame that we haven't had a GM who has consistently stayed above 2600 (let alone reach the stratospheric heights of 2700).

Zia at times came close to 2600.

Here's the current FIDE rating list:

Bangladesh beats Venezuela 2.5 - 1.5. 3 draws and a win. We are now placed 37th total points of 15. Major shakeup in the leaderboard. Armenia takes the lead with 18 points. Followed by Russia and Germany 1. Ukraine is next and India finishes the top 5.

Next we face a strong Norway team. We would be lucky to get 1 or 1.5 points. Their GMs are struggling. We can get a win against them though. They have 2786 player.

I will be happy with the Bangladesh team as long as they finish with in 50th and they beat Cuba.Because my best friend here is a Cuban and he says that Cuba is better at chess and Bangladesh so I want to prove it to him that Bangladesh is better. The 2 of us played each other a lot in chess but mostly it came out to be a draw or he came close to beating me and I came close to beating him but the time ran out.

(Even though BD is ranked 37 and Cuba 43)
Beating Cuba is next to impossible. They have a formidable team this time. I think head to head they will beat us 3-1 if not 4-0.

I was thinking the same but I'm not giving up my hopes yet.

Al hamdulillah. We are badly missing our other two GMs. Every team (good ones) brought in their (5) five GMs. I think we would have been up by at least a point if not more had the other two came. There would have been a big difference between 17.5 and 18.5 or even 19.

Spain shesh. jodu kodu'r shatey kheila ie obostha. Bring on their GMs.

Well we might be missing Rifat, but Niaz - although the ratings might say otherwise - has always been a tad overrated. He kind of lost his mojo after becoming the first GM in the country eons ago.

Rani Hamid's been playing for ages too and she isn't quite where one would have expected her to be after all these years.

We should start playing Chess on Yahoo Again during Innings break or Batting Collapses, I haven't gotten any better but it takes your mind off things that shouldn't get you aggravated

GM Abdullah al Raqib rocks!!! He has not lost a single game in this tournament. He has one more round to go. He bagged total of 6 points. increased his rating to 2522. His Rp is 2628. Congratulations!!

Bd should finish higher than their original ranking that they began with. best of luck for the last round against Thailand.

Performance card for Bangladesh players. Truly Rakib rocks as mentioned by T_E earlier. Shakil disappointed us with -21 rating points to his rating.
