Default What are we going to do about over-population?

Bangladesh's population density is ridiculously high [1045 per one sq km], thats 1045 jammed inside a very large house and garden in the UK!

A striking comparison is offered by the fact that Russia's population is slightly smaller even though Russia has a land area of 17.5 million square kilometers, at least 120 times bigger than Bangladesh!

Clearly birth control is not going to be effective, because of widespread poverty, demand for labour, and conservative attitudes.

What can we do, if anything at all... Is Bangladesh imminently doomed?

And what of urban migration? and climate induced refugees (eg. Monga, Nodi Bhangon, Aila)? What about depleting ground water, and surface water pollution? What about the shrinking green spaces, and catchment areas?

What about energy consumption per capita? or Caloric intake demand per capita? What about the global decrease in food yields per hectare?

What of the socio-economic consequences of the increased population (density) after accounting for the above factors?

On a somewhat related note: http://www.thedailystar.net/newDesig...php?nid=135720

problem is large number of people of this huge population are inactive due to illiteracy.otherwise population could be power for developing the country. even the educated youth are unable to contribute for lack of work sector. job market is too volatile now. DHAKA is getting like ant's kingdom...mainsher matha mainshe khay!!
