Even though I haven't watched any BPL Matches in the last 3/4 weeks or so, I am happy for Rubel Hossain that he got quality batsmen out in succession. that's kinda impressive. We would need all his skills in NZ.

I haven't watched a single game either. But heard very good things about the local pace bowling package.
Taskin was a revelation
And RBX

Should be a good game.

Whoever bats first. We want a good targer set, something above 170. Dont want a low scoring final.

I reckon whoever wins toss will bowl first.

I may be wrong, but I do not think "Victorians" means "Winners" ....

Who named the teams? Why did they come up with such a horrible name?

Interesting observation... people who haven't watched a single game or haven't watched most of the BPL games are opening the thread and the first few comment in this BPL final thread. Wonding where are the folks (in this thread) who really watched the game?

I for one watched as many games as I could ( live or first forward from DVR).

talking strickly about locals (that's what I cared most in BPL) it was a mixed bag like any other tournament.... some disappointment and some pleasant surprise. Quite a few FBs surprised me a lot....but Rony disappointed me. The rest (Taskin, Mashrafee, Saifuddin, Abu Jayed, Khaled, Ebadat, etc) played pretty solid. Spinning department, I was happy to see few more talent exposed or showed their merit (Sakib, Mahedi Hasan, Naeem, Sanjit Shaha, etc)

batting wise, there was some disappointment but few good surprise. Tamim, Imrul, SS, Anamul, Riyad, Ashraful, Liton, Sabbir (kind of), Nasir Sakib (with the bat) disappointed me. However, Mithun, Mushfiq, Junaid, Samsur, Afif made me happy.

Whoever wins, I am looking for great performance from some of the lacal boys of both team.

Why? Is Dynamite is a better name?

As a matter of fact, most of the names are either imported name or horrible:
Victorians, Dynamite, Viking, Titans, Kings, Riders, sixers.

better name should be:

Victorians -> Mougols

Dynamite -> Aguner Golla
Kings -> Nababs
Riders -> Rickshaw wala
Titans -> Dorbesh
Sizers -> Pach Pattur

Excited for the final. Congrats Tamim on making his first ever BPL final although I feel like out of all the editions, this time he or Kayes didnt deserve to play the final.

Glad Mash didnt make the final or this forum and the entire social media would be filled with conspiracy theories and fixing stories. Baicha gesi!

As a dhakaiyya and all roots within Dhaka division, DD all the way!
Jitbe Dhaka dekhbe desh............................ and Sylhet

Rangpur Riders Innings (20 overs maximum)

BATSMEN R B 4s 6s SR
CH Gayle c †Nurul Hasan b Rubel Hossain 15 13 0 2 115.38
4.1 length outside off and that's two in two! Gayle had a tentative poke at it at the last instant and offered a catch to the diving keeper's left, who made no mistake to bring the Dynamites well and truly back into the contest 42/2
Nadif Chowdhury c Pollard b Shuvagata Hom 27 12 2 3 225.00
4 and he finally miscues one! Length on middle, in the slot again, but he goes towards midwicket losing his shape this time, gets it off the toe of the bat and offers a simple catch on the deep midwicket fence 42/1
Mohammad Mithun † c †Nurul Hasan b Qazi Onik 38 27 2 2 140.74
13.2 length outside off, flashes and gets a thin outside edge low to the keeper's right, who timed his dive to perfection to break a dangerous stand 106/4
RR Rossouw c Pollard b Rubel Hossain 0 1 0 0 0.00
4.2 length on middle, he has had a swing at it straight up, hurried on to him hit high up on the bat and that's a team hat-trick! Importantly, that's the tournament's top run-scorer gone first ball 42/3
RS Bopara c Pollard b Rubel Hossain 49 43 6 1 113.95
19.4 short ball, doesn't get high enough, he middles it but straight down deep squareleg's throat. Bopara misses his fifty and Rubel gets four 142/10
BAC Howell lbw b Shakib Al Hasan 3 8 0 0 37.50
14.4 full on middle, the pressure gets to him as he picks the wrong ball for the sweep and the umpire raises his finger immediately as he misses and looks to have been struck plumb in front. The batsman reviews. Has that touched the elbow before striking him on the front pad? The third umpire reckons not, and the decision stands. it was crashing into middle stump 109/5
Mashrafe Mortaza (c) c Russell b Qazi Onik 0 3 0 0 0.00
15.3 length on middle, has a slog, only gets a bit of a leading edge, high in the air and straight down long-on's throat 110/6
Nahidul Islam b Rubel Hossain 4 5 0 0 80.00
17.4 length on middle, skids on to him, ugly hoick to the leg side results in the middle stump being uprooted 124/7
Farhad Reza c & b Russell 2 4 0 0 50.00
18.3 length outside off, tries to fetch it and hoick it over midwicket, only getting a top edge, high in the air, the bowler settles under and takes it comfortably 127/8
Shafiul Islam c †Nurul Hasan b Russell 0 2 0 0 0.00
19 full outside off, a hint of away swing, and nicked to the keeper 128/9
Nazmul Islam not out 0 0 0 0
-
Extras 4 (lb 2, w 2) TOTAL 142 all out (19.4 Overs, RR: 7.22)
Fall of wickets: 1-42 (Nadif Chowdhury, 3.6 ov), 2-42 (CH Gayle, 4.1 ov), 3-42 (RR Rossouw, 4.2 ov), 4-106 (Mohammad Mithun, 13.2 ov), 5-109 (BAC Howell, 14.4 ov), 6-110 (Mashrafe Mortaza, 15.3 ov), 7-124 (Nahidul Islam, 17.4 ov), 8-127 (Farhad Reza, 18.3 ov), 9-128 (Shafiul Islam, 18.6 ov), 10-142 (RS Bopara, 19.4 ov)

My point was that "Victorians" is not even a word.

Personally, there was only 1 name that I preferred in the whole BPL history.

Rajshahi in 1st BPL season was called "Duronto Rajshahi".... I loved that name.

We can always do an excellent job when we do not copy to become a second rate version of something else, but stick to our own identity.

We "the oldies" still consider ourselves "Abahani" or "Mohamedan" . Cannot identify with all these new "DJ" , Cheerleaders and second rate entertainment.

Dhaka Dynamites Innings (target: 143 runs from 20 overs)

BATSMEN R B 4s 6s SR
WU Tharanga c Nahidul Islam b Mashrafe Mortaza 4 4 1 0 100.00
0.4 length on off, Tharanga tries to go big to the onside this time, but only manages a thick inside edge, straight down mid-on's throat 4/1
SP Narine c Rossouw b Nazmul Islam 14 8 3 0 175.00
4 length on off, Narine attempts a slog-sweep but there was a bit of extra bounce there, he was also cramped for room a little and got a top edge, high in the air and easily taken at midwcket. The extra ball accounts for Narine 41/2
Rony Talukdar run out (Bopara) 35 24 4 0 145.83
11 mix up and a run-out! length on middle, pushed just wide off the bowler, the non striker took off as it passed the bowler, the batsman stood his ground after taking a few steps, midwicket was quick to get there and take the bails off at the bowler's end 97/4
Shakib Al Hasan (c) b Howell 23 20 2 1 115.00
8.5 bowled against the run of play! Rush of blood gets Shakib as he attempts a slog sweep, misses, is struck on the thigh and the ball bounces off back on to the stumps 75/3
KA Pollard c †Mohammad Mithun b Mashrafe Mortaza 14 8 1 1 175.00
10.2 length outside off, slight away movement, tentative push, there seems to be a little nick to the keeper, who dives forward to take it. Unsure if it carried so they go up. Soft signal is out. And the third umpire is convinced that it carried, so Pollard has to walk back 91/4
Nurul Hasan † not out 9 17 0 0 52.94
AD Russell not out 40 19 0 5 210.52
Extras 8 (lb 2, w 6) TOTAL 147/5 (16.4 Overs, RR: 8.82)

Did not bat: Mahmudul Hasan, Qazi Onik, Shuvagata Hom, Rubel Hossain

Fall of wickets: 1-4 (WU Tharanga, 0.4 ov), 2-41 (SP Narine, 3.6 ov), 3-75 (Shakib Al Hasan, 8.5 ov), 4-91 (KA Pollard, 10.2 ov), 5-97 (Rony Talukdar, 10.6 ov)
