To avoid India in quarter final we need to top the group. If you didnt know quarter finals line up will be as followed
A1-D2, A2-D1, B1-C2, B2-C1

Semifinal line ups

Winner of (A1-D2) against winner of (B2-C1).
Winner of (A2-D1) against winner of (B2-C1)

So top the group and avoid India/Pakistan before final. Given they top their respective groups.

We should win this group easy! But there are no bigger chokers than our under 19s historically! Their choking over the years will make South Africa look like cruise controllers!

I have absolutely zero expectations from this Bangladeshi U19 team. Fact is the captain and everyone believes the main weapon is spin, they got 4 spinners would you believe it. When an opposition sees this team composition, they are likely to get a mental edge even before the game. We will never be any good on the world stage with arm rotators. The script has already been written, spin = doomed. U19 WC = Plate championship, Selectors = Bolod, Captain = Misplaced.

Squad announced
Quote:
There are two changes and one addition to the squad which took part in the Global qualifier earlier this summer.

Harry Tector and Fiachra Tucker return to the squad having taken part in the European Qualifier in Jersey earlier last Summer and are joined by Stephen Doheny.
Doheny impressed for his club, Rush, winning the National Cup and scoring a century against Scotland for the U17s.

The addition of Tucker and Tector give extra spin bowling options in a tournament that is expected to by played in conditions that favour spin rather than pace.

The squad will travel to Dubai at the end of next week for 4 or 5 days net and match practice before flying on to Bangladesh on the 19th or 20th for 'official' warm-up matches before their first fixture versus India on Jan 28th.
Taking Australia's place in the tournament has brought an unexpected bonus.
Australia's first match was to be televised live so we may have the chance to see Ireland on the big stage against India unless the broadcasters change their schedule, which is unlikely at this stage and because any match involving India is guaranteed to attract a huge audience in the sub-continent and beyond.

- Spinning all-rounders Fiachra Tucker and Harry Tector rejoin the 15-man squad having missed out on the Malaysian qualifiers, while Rush opening batsman Stephen Doheny - captain of Ireland’s Under 17s - earns a first call-up at this level after an impressive summer.
Tucker and Tector join their elder brothers in the squad, with Lorcan Tucker named as vice-captain, and Jack Tector once again skippering the side. The inclusion of twin brothers Gary and William McClintock mean there’s a real family affair look to the line-up.

“We played some excellent cricket at both the European qualifiers in Jersey and the global qualifying event in Malaysia,” said U19 head coach Ryan Eagleson. “Unfortunately we lost out at the final hurdle on both occasions, but we’ve been handed this lifeline which we intend to make the most of.
“We’ve strengthened the spin bowling drafting in Fiachra (Tucker) and Harry Tector, while Stephen Doheny is an accomplished batsman who has scored heavily this season at all levels.
“Our group looks tough with India and New Zealand, while we will have a chance of revenge over Nepal who pipped us in Malaysia.
“We’re all extremely grateful to the ICC for the opportunity to play in the World Cup and although we know it will be tough, we’re determined to make everyone proud.”

The chance to captain Ireland at a World Cup is a dream come true for Irish skipper Jack Tector and he can’t wait to lead his country in Bangladesh.
“It is a massive opportunity for the squad to represent Ireland on the world stage. I can’t thank the ICC enough for their invitation and Cricket Ireland for acting so fast as a result.
“Fortunately we have been training regularly, and with four days preparation in Dubai before we head on to Bangladesh, I know we will be ready for the India game on the 28th.
“We have experience in sub-continental conditions having been to Sri Lanka and Malaysia over the last 12 months, so hopefully this will stand us in good stead once we get to Bangladesh.
“To captain my country in a World Cup is something I have dreamt about over the last few years and now that it’s actually happening is a truly unbelievable feeling.”

Ireland are in Group D and will play matches against India (in Mirpur on 28 January), Nepal (in Fatullah on 30 January) and New Zealand (in Fatullah on 1 February).
If Ireland finishes inside the top two in Group D, then it will progress to the Super League, while it will feature in the Plate Championship if it ends up third or fourth in its group.

Ireland Under 19 World Cup Squad:

Jack Tector (captain) (YMCA), Rory Anders (Phoenix), Andrew Austin (Bready), Varun Chopra (Coleraine), Adam Dennison (Waringstown), Stephen Doheny (Rush), Aaron Gillespie (Strabane), Josh Little (Pembroke), Gary McClintock (Donemana), William McClintock (Donemana), Tom Stanton (Merrion), Harry Tector (YMCA), Fiachra Tucker (Pembroke), Lorcan Tucker (Pembroke), Ben White (Phoenix).

Just in case you's dont know, here are some of the warm up games which affect BCF members (WI,Ire,Ban)

West Indies vs Scotland
Afghanistan vs Ireland
Bangladesh vs Zimbabwe
SA vs West Indies
Ireland vs Canada
England vs Bangladesh

Interesting to note that Englands game vs Zimbabwe is scheduled to be live broadcast, dont England normally refuse to play Zimbabwe due to Mugabe?

Anyway, Bangladesh have only one live game as of now, the opener vs SA. India's games are all live.

Should Bangladesh make it to the Super League stage by finishing in the top 2 of its group, all of your games from then on will be broadcasted as every Super League stage match is live.

Unfortunately none of the Plate matches will be live whatsoever.

All group games to be broadcasted live on Sky or your regional equivalent are as follows.

South Africa v Bangladesh
India vs Ireland
England vs West Indies
India vs NZ
England vs Zimbabwe
India vs Nepal
West Indies vs Zimbabwe
*every game from this point on in the Super League Stage is live*

Disappointing to see so few teams getting live matches as of now.

Ireland - 1 game
Nepal - 1 game
NZ - 1 game
SA - 1 game
Bangladesh - 1 game
England/WI/Zim - 2 games
India - 3 games

Since realistically the 8 super league stage teams will likely be

India
Pakistan
SA
NZ
Eng
WI
Ban
SL/Afg

All of those sides get a couple live games then.

Very interesting how Zimbabwe get two live group games tbh.

In short, good to see more live games than ever in this event, but kinda disappointing to see Namibia,Fiji,Canada, one of Sri Lanka/Afghanistan, Scotland get zero live games at all.

India - Ireland game is on a thursday which sucks but I'll likely never get a better shot to see the U19's live so will probably be up at whatever insane hour the game is at streaming it, not that I#m hopeful of a win mind you haha.

I can accept most plate games not being broadcasted, fair enough, but surely the final deserved a time slot??

Yes its poor they are not showing the plate final, but they never have in the past, hold onto cricinfo should be thrilling.
Tv showing of youth cups, always been India centric always has been,I expect the T20 Cup to be Indian centric too.
Pakistan vs Afghanistan too decide who goes round 2 or plate cup,I expect the loser win the plate final, and I predict Zimbabwe won't be in the plate final.
Tonight NZ vs Australia in the tri series with Pakistan in UAE should be interesting viewing.

Any source for the broadcast info? In the past its only been India and England games + semis and finals. I thought some local Gazi tv might do all the BD games since we are the hosts. Will check willow.

If anyone is curious about the England team, our best player is a left arm fast bowler called Sam Curran. Batting is weak but Dan Lawrence is competent. We also have a couple of useful spinners in Mason Crane and captain Brad Taylor.

I can't remember England ever playing Fiji. Not sure how good Zim or WI are but I'd expect to get out of this group. If it's a quarter final against SL/Pak then I guess that'll be the end of the road as England couldn't win a single game in their recent Tri series against India & SL.

I think England are willing to compete against Zimbabwe but not inside that country.
