Please remember, after voting, you need to check your email to count your vote.

Its a mammoth task to mark Bangladesh match as the greatest considering India and Pakistan match and their huge number of supporters. But, no harm to try, right

Yes, but please vote by being true to your heart and be objective. Hard to be so when voting for such an emotive thing as sports, but a good game should be judged on its own merits and not fervent and blind support for your team.

Frankly I dont remember all the other games listed there. But there were MANY great one day games during 1996-1997.

I don't even know how this match got selected as one of the greatest oneday match. It could be one of the greatest matches that Bangladesh won but it wasn't a nail biter. Bangladesh won by 5 wickets and with Ash's batting they seemed to be on course for a victory two-third of the way through the match. It was a big upset for sure but wasn't any BD win against strong oppositions used to be considered as such back in the days?

Ind v Pak 2004 gets my vote by the look of things. I remember watching that series through a livestream on a Winamp channel.

BD v Aus comes 2nd much later. The game was special because it was us, the no.9 winning against Aus, the then no.1 team that soon after lost the Ashes in England. Great boost for us, great innings from Ashraful, and the world took notice of us. Aftab's six did it for us.

For that matter, India winning the 3rd final of the Independence cup at Dhaka Stadium in Jan 1998 was a great match too.

Wont comment on the record breaking SA v Aus ODI, because that game had nothing for the bowlers, and was simply the batsmen's game. I like my ODIs filled with suspense and electrifying moments.

Here's my player choices though:

Best opener: Jayasuriya
Best middle order batsman: Michael Bevan
Best Wicket Keeper: Adam Gilchrist
Best Fast Bowler (tough one): Wasim Akram
Best spinner: Saqlain Mushtaq

n.b: Yeah well the WC semi final between Aus and SA in 1999 was also one of the greatest. Damned Allan Donald run out by Klusener

this BD-Aus game kind of looks out of place in the "Greatest ODI match ever' list...

>>>> Australia tied with South Africa at Edgbaston, 17 June 1999 is my pick... WC at its best...

Bangladesh game is my pick. Australia was number one team and they were unbeatable at that time.

Australia won by one-wicket against West Indies at Sydney, 12 January 1996, my pick.
2nd pick would have been 2005 Cardiff but that was a fluke win.

Michael Bevan last ball 4, a hero was born.

That match being on the same list as Aus-RSA drawn match in the WC is kinda ridiculous...

Fluke wins are sweet. Remember the WC2007 where we kicked endia out of the tournament, sent them packing home before the first round was over? Now that was sweet !

The very best in my book.

Voted for BD win over Aus.
Hell with reasons, I'm going for my country.

If there wasn't Bangladesh on that list, I'd probably go for Aus V SA 99 world cup or SA V Aus 434 chase down.
But too bad, Our win is on the list.

Thats because we singularly overpowered them and eliminated them with clinical precision. Cant say there was any chance in that match for India to fight and provide a contest.

You can be sure that most Indians and Pakistanis will not be voting with reasons.

If you talk about nail bites for me it has to be the 1997 icc trophy final between bd & Kenya. Remember that match given odi status? But heck, the match wins will be a ind-pak, indian fans outnumber the rest of the world.

It should the SA vs. OZ game. Who in the world would have thought SA would chase down 434. That was one hell of a match.

exactly. If Indians, Aussies, Pommies can be irrational towards their team and country, whats holding us back to support our country ? damn with all this logic stuffs, if i see my country or any of our players in the list (obviously in positive way) i will vote for them.

I think it was the whole context and the aftermath of the game that makes it so important. Bangladesh had difficulty crossing 200 in that tour, Aus were at their peak. I don't think anyone in the world predicted Bangladesh would win and this is the beauty of sports, it writes scripts that couldn't be written by the smartest brains in hollywood.

As a battle between two teams and in pure cricketing sense, this game might not have been the best. But in terms of leaving it's mark on the cricketing world, this game comes in the top 3.

But hell with reasons, I am voting for Bangladesh game anyways. :-)
