Ashraful and another batsman have reached 20 odd runs.

So, before bad light stopped play, Bangladesh A team was 3 runs ahead of Kenya with 3 wickets in hand.

The Bangladesh A team fought back gallantly on the final day to draw their three-day match against the Kenya Cricket Association (KCA) Eleven at the Aga Khan Sports ground in Nairobi yesterday.

Skipper Sanwar Hossain led from the front with an unbeaten 105 as the tourists, needing 277 runs to save the match, finished on 292 for seven.

Resuming the day on 12-1, Bangladesh A batted out the day before bad light stopped play 6.5 overs remaining.

It was a spectacular escape act by the second string national side after being forced to follow on after the second day.

Bangladesh A were dismissed for 223 on the second day after the KCA selection amassed 512 in their first innings. Sanwar showed real character after successive failures by the top-order. The right-hander also scored 63 in the first innings.

Javed made up for his earlier failure with a gritty 74. The national opener, who has been out of action due to injury, made only seven in the first innings.

Besides, Mohammad Ashraful contributed 27 and young wicketkeeper Anwar Hossain made 22.

Tushar, however fell for 5. He top-scored with 98 in the first innings.

The tourists kick off their three-match one-day series against KCA on August 21. The next two matches are on August 24 and 25 at the Ruraka Sports Club ground.

Bangladesh A will play another three-day match against KCA XI beginning on August 27 at the same venue.

Sanwar doesn't get enough opportunity with the national team but gets plenty with the A team and so he has a really good track record with the A team. BCB should give the guy more exposure, let him turn into a better Bulbul for the future. Bulbul had promise but he didn't get to show much for it, hopefully Sanwar will break that trend (common among most of our cricketers).

I am not so sure about Sanwar. He is already too old to become (a better) Bulbul now. I think that Sanwar just doesn't have the class.

Skipper Mohammad Sunwar Hossain smashed an unbeaten 105 as Bangladesh “A” forced the Kenya Cricket Association (KCA) XI to a draw in a three-day match at the Aga Khan Sports Club.

The visitors batted extremely well during their second innings and were 292 runs for seven in 87.3 overs before the match was called-off since there was no possibility of a result.

Umpires Subash Modi and Rocky de Mello consulted with Sunwar and Kenya captain, Steve Tikolo, before calling off the match.

Sanwar who faced 160 balls visited the boundaries 17 times and build a good fourth wicket stand of 104 runs with opener Javed Omar (74 runs) who was stumped by David Obuya off Jimmy Kamande’s delivery in the 50th over for the score to stand at 167 for four.

However, Bangladeshi manager Golam Mohammed Nowsher was not satisfied by the results, “we should have won the match was it not for poor batting during the first innings”, he said after the match.

Bangladesh were bowled out for 223 in 71 overs during their first innings and forced to a follow-on after KCA XI had raked in 512 runs in 100.1 overs in their first inning. The visitors had however won the toss but surprisingly sent in KCA XI, who they failed to bowl out on the first day.

Perhaps I read this wrong or Mr. Nowshar was misquoted. Help me out here. Does the following sound right ?

Should have won ? That's good, but this is the Kenyan national team (virtually) and the last time we did beat them was a friendly and before that, we had some horondous results against them. I say we did bad but a win was always in doubt with the firepower (bowling) we have.

Second thing, the batting in the first innigs was below par but that's not why we were almost losing to kenya within three-days (we would have on the fourth), we lost because our boys showed little or no control over their bowling in Kenya's 512. There is no excuse for letting them score beyond 350-380. Shob monojog er obhab. Mon thake kothai eder ? Batting eo dubba (not in the second innings), bowling eo anda.

Thats right. This was another incident, where BD management showed they dont know what they are talking about.

It is our bowling that almost made us lose. Winning? I dont even see how.
