7 ODIs??? Would have preferred to have seen 4 tests at least especially with these teams!

White wash is inevitable for us in Tests. Zero expectations from this squad.

hoping rilee R gets a call up for the shorter formats off the back of his ton against Aus A. especially since SA have been quite poor in ODIs of late.

at least there aren't 7 ODIs, that's too many, never liked those 7 match ODI series.

Awfully short tour, considering a clash between two titans.

test team imo should be:
1 dhawan
2 vijay
3 pujara
4 kohli
5 rahane
6 sharma
7 dhoni
8 ashwin
9 kumar
10 shami
11 zaheer
could possibly play rahane as opener instead of vijay and play jadeja but the batting looks a bit weak with that line-up.

Sad to see this being only a 2 Test, 3 ODI tour. It's also sad that South Africa gets less matches compared to the likes of India, England, and Australia despite being the much better Test team.

Should be a good test for the young Indian batting order. I am interested to see how Kohli performs on South African pitches.

Same here. I think Kohli will do well in ODIs. Not so sure for Tests though. Same goes for their Test team. They got hammered against England and Australia. As a matter of fact we did better than India did against England since we beat them in an ODI and we showed better fight in Tests. So India needs to prove themselves away from home.

thought about that, the reason i put rahane at 5 is because he's more of a top order batsman and rohit has been doing tremendously well at #6 since his inclusion so why not keep rohit at 6 since he's doing well and put rahane at 5?

Dhawan will exude
confidence from his
splendid 'A' tour to South
Africa in August where he
amassed a staggering
410 from 4 matches at an
average of 102 in the tri-
series also involving
Australia 'A'. The
highlight of the tour was
Dhawan's sensational
150-ball 248 against
South Africa 'A' in
Pretoria.

India have never won a
bilateral series in South
Africa. Of the 25 ODIs they
have played against South
Africa here, they have
won just five. India will
look to improve on that
dismal record when they
take on South Africa today
at 5:00 pm IST. AB de
Villiers doesn't think India

South Africa, who have
played 67 ODIs against
India so far, have won 40
times and lost 25 games
while two matches
yielded no results. This
puts the Proteas' win
percentage against India
at 59.70 while it gets
even better for South
Africa at home. With 19
wins and 5 losses out of
the 25 games at home
against India, South
Africa's win percentage is
an impressive 76.
