the best pure Test innings is SN's 138 against Australia...by that i mean an innings which can be played basically any time. but in terms of absolutes than i think ash's 158* against India takes the cake, tho SN's innings is amazing as well. its just ash's 158* is the type of innings you can only expect once, maybe twice in a career, and even then not from every good batsman.
ODIs its easily ash's 100 against Australia

I would not include any of Ash's 158 or Shahriar's 138 as the best test innings as they both were for the loosing cause. It did not change the outcome of our game in our favor. Best ODI innings is, no doubt, 100 of Ash at Cardiff. Best test innings, I'll consider, Rafique's century at St. Luisa that brought us the draw against WI.

yes ash's innings of 100runs against the aussies is the best...apart from it i would also rate ash's 94 of 52balls against england as one of the best...considering the shots played with class, style, authority and quality of the attack....ohh and we all know it was played in their soil...it was really a treat to watch that innings

Best innings by BD player is N Iqbal's against Zim (121 of 355 balls) to date.
We had some supporters in that innings JO (43 of 258 balls) and Rajin (56* of 140).
1st series victory is always sweeter. Specially we had every chance of losing the match and not win the series.

Best test innings
Aminul Islam Bulbul 145 vs India at Dhaka
Aminul Islam bulbul played that match under very debating circumstances. Many people in the world and many test counties questioned our test status. Many tought we donr deserve it..it came bit too early. Though we beat in 99 world cup they thought is just upset and match was fixed or so.
So when we play that historical test match. We have a point to prove. Yes we can play test cricket. Yes we are deserved to be the top ten test playing country in the world. There was huge hype in our country and lots of emotion to the players. 11 player is going to debut for their nation at the same time
When we came to bat at the first day at the test . every one in the world of cricket was looking on us how we play and perform in 5 day test match. Both our opener biddut and opi got out cheaply. And then The Aminul Islam came to the Pitch. And create a magical partnership with Bashar. BulBul bat like a tiger . he score 145 runs the very first test match. But is bigger picture he face 380 balls andground out a nine long hour at that heat. This is a class of a genius. He played 17 4s. His concentration, ball judgment, foot work, skill, timing, running between wickets everything was in one word “Perfect”. His innings shows the world here we come… just shut up and watch us…we can play test as well

chasing 373 with almost 5 full sessions was a tall task. Yet not only they survived, they did it confidently. We owe Nafis Iqbal a big thanks. Facing 355 balls was a big statement. Before this series, the talk of stripping the test status was synonemus with BD cricket. After that the talk stopped for ever.

how about bashar's knock of 113 against west indies at st lucia? that innings was really played under tremendous pressure coz bangladesh was not playing good and suffered bad defeats on the previous matches while west indies played 4 genuine quickies just to crush and humiliate bangladesh and the local media was also creating havoc...suddenly bashar hit back and came up with some strong replies...that innings really made the day for bangladesh and laid up a good foundation to build the innings which later helped bangladesh to drew for the first time in a test match.....certainly a good innings to b proud of.

Similar to the situation in west indies,or even tougher, this time hannan sarkar came up with another marvellous innings against the aussies in the 2nd test match at Cairns july'03 where he scored 76 runs against the likes of McGrath,Lee,Gillespie,McGill and all of them were in great form at that time.we all know how difficult opponent they are at their own soil and bangladesh was mentally down becoz of their dismal performance at the world cup...while the situation got worst when australian media started to criticise badly.the players were down in a hole and had to show some guts...finally it came through hannan's innings...thanks to him for such lovely innings and later bangladesh scored 295 in that match which helped to shut the mouths of some critics like david hooks...it was not a huge innings though from hannan but surely a good and memorible one in danger for bangladesh !!

No, it didn't. In fact, it grew louder after the England test series.

I have to agree with this. That Innings was just masterful.... exactly what test cricket was supposed to have been played like.
As for ODI's.... Ashraful 100 against Australia at Cardiff.... it gave us a GREAT victory, and at least he had a solid partnership with Bashar going in that one.

Akram khan's innings against Holland in ICC tournament in Malayasia.
Unfortunately I forgot the score.
If we had lost that game , we would not be on WC1999.
And Oh boy, we were almost there to loose that
I still feel vacuum in my lung, when I remember that.

I agree.
Ashraful 158* against India is one of the best Test innings I have ever seen... It is almost lara-esque. The way he dominated the bowlers and and controlled his innings was absolutely amazing. I had really high hopes for Ashraful after that match... but my high hopes never saw the daylight!

Akram's 67 was not in a ODI or Test match. It was an ICC trophy match.
Anyways, that innings was best until test status era.
Best ODI Innings: Ashrafuls's 100 against Mighty Australia.
Best Test Innings: SN's 138 against same opponent.

odi i would rate akram khans innins against holand. that innins will be mentioned for a long time. because if it wasnt for that innins i dont think bangladesh would have been playing test cricket. as time passes the value of that single innins by akram khan will increase. in test shariar nafees against australia. 138 against the best team in the world is the best innins in test cricket by our batsman.
