Default Tamim Iqbal is ordinary

The harsh truth. He has no middle gear, its either just attack or defend without rotating the strike.

In one over he just blocks every ball and the next over he charges like a maniac. Eyesore And his RBW is even worse

The Tamim of 2010 was going places and now his batting is just sad. This is what happens when you aren't committed to what you do. First, he needs to improve his fitness since he is a sportsman. He himself once said, he wants to play cricket for a few years and then wants to be a businessman. He needs to respect the game a bit more.

won't call him ordinary,just scored a 100 vs Sri 4 ODIs ago.
But with injuries he isn't at his best right now.

But he is very one dimensional type of player, either block or hit 4s.
He needs to take some lessons from SAkib or NAsir at taking singles.

An average of 30 suggests otherwise

if you are only judging by his ODI stats then I won't argue much but I won't still call him ordinary.

Perception matters. To you, he is a world class player, but to others his performance throughout his international career is below par, for a player of his calibre.

Dont want to say that he has an Ash Syndrome, Ash has been woeful throughout his career. Tamim lacks cricketing sense, like someone earlier mentioned, his reluctany to work on his fitness.

The reason why I am being critical on him, is because he comes from a good background and unlike his team-mates. Those kind of people should be able to know the importance of fitness and other matters. If you go to an English medium school like me, and Tamim, you should be aware of matters of the world. Sadly, most of the cricketers that come through are from "Poor" background, and havent had education in a good school

at the end of the 7th over BD was 32/2 and at that moment tamim was on 20 of 25 balls i.e a SR of 80.

since then tamim started to play slow and the next 12 runs took him 35 balls and there was 25 balls dots in those 35 balls. where as at the same time mushy was maintaining a SR of 80 at the other end.

and before the ball tamim got out he played out 13 consecutive DOT balls

can somebody explain this ????

12 off '45' deliveries. Looks worse now doesn't it?

Did he fully recover from his injury? Was he fit enough to play? These needs to answered first.

Hope he comes back strongly

by stats yes ordinary, but clearly by watching him play you can see his talent, has the potential to be a great player and when i say GREAT i'm not saying it lightly, and unlike a lot of players he has the ability to be a great player in all 3 of the formats currently played.

Late realization.

If he was as good as he thinks he is or as we think he is, he would have scored more 50s and 100s.

Not trying to line up the excuses but he is coming off a fractured finger injury. Finger injuries are very hard to come back from knowing from experience. It takes time to get back in the zone

Hope by the NZ series he has a better series

Yep, he is just as ordinary as other Bangladeshi batters. Team effort is our only hope to get positive results.

^^There is no replacement, the truth is, cricket is not in our blood and never will be. Cricket is for elite team, and BD people are not "elite", especially when you have ministers saying that an entire buiding collapse because some rioters where shaking the gates

Cricket is one sport that does not really require as much athletism as other sports. Its a technical sport.

To be in good in cricket, you need proper coaching, match practice. Our domestic matches dont prepare our players for themselves. I dont think I will live to see the day when some green pitches will be used in domestics to give experience to pace bowlers and top order batsman to pacer friendly conditions.
