I’m uncomfortable BD batting first all the time. This series batted first, all games so far. Yes it won you games but last game there was warning signs.. why not bowl first for once, in 2018! When you’ve won the toss.

Maybe Mash wanted to not field in the sun first!

Not in the too distant past, losing to Bangladesh or Zimbabwe was considered an upset by Sri Lanka. Things have changed drastically now and beating Zimbabwe the other day felt the same as Sri Lanka beating a side like Australia about 1 1/2 to 2 years back. Bangladesh being shot out for 82 today feels the same as when Sri Lanka caused a batting collapse of a side like Australia some time ago.

Having said that, I'm also not 100% sure that Sri Lanka would win today. A batting collapse is very much on the cards, against tight, penetrative, purposeful bowling by Bangladesh on this pitch. I would say the chances of Sri Lanka winning, even chasing 83 is about 70%.

As far as Bangladesh is concerned, at the rate they have been winning, a loss was due round the corner according to probability. So it is good for them to lose today than in the final .. and they wouldn't mind meeting Sri Lanka in the final as Cremer's men could be difficult customers if they get into the final.

A couple of boundaries by Sri Lanka as I finish typing this. Swinging bats might trigger a collapse.

On the other hand, if Sri Lanka wins today, that might pump up their confidence and help them drive away the demons (mental aspects) holding back this bunch of talented young players.

no way we are winning this match..we do not have the fighting mentality to win with a target of 83

Lankans have weak hamstrings. All we need to do is give off singles and batting will collapse...literally.

Hey Herath! Good to see you after a long time!

Agree, we should not lose our heads over one match. This sort of disasters are bound to happen in cricket every now and then.

This makes the final all more interesting.

That may seem appropriate right now.
Do you have a similar sounding word in Bengali ?
Incidentally there are many similarities between Sinhalese and Bengali.

Can we make them lose by more than 70 runs and get Zims in the final.. We are surely not getting the cup against hataru...

Gunathilaka is making a whole lot of difference today, first as a fielder, now as a batsman. K Perera's injury was a blessing in disguise for Lanka.

Great to be back here brother.

Good to see the great improvements in Bangladeshi cricket. I'd really like to see them taking on a side like Australia, especially at home now. They seem invincible at home.

Isn't this a great period for the passionate Bangladeshi fans too ?

Meanwhile Afghanistan is going great guns in the under 19 world cup and have just reached the semi finals beating the hosts who had been unbeaten till then.

This is all good for world cricket.

"Hatura" means hammer in Bengali, which is also apt, as we are getting hammered.

There should be many similarities as Sinhalese are descendents of settlers from Bengal.

This match is so fixed, just to please our ex coach and push his team to the final. Haturer job might have been at a risk otherwise

You are very well informed. The Sinhalese are descendants of Bengali settlers led by one Prince Vijaya.

Of course we have had valuable players from other communities too like Tamils (e.g., Murali), Muslims (e.g., Maharoof) and Burghers (e.g., Van Dort) which is great.
