The pacers are not being ostracized. Just look at Mash and see how well he bowled in this ODI series so far. He came back from a long break and still bowls with accuracy and got Gayle twice. Unfortunately, Rubel/Abul is no where near Mash. Why give them repeated chance when we know very well we could play Sunny who will perform better.
Up until the mid 90s, in ODIs the opening batsmen would play it sound and safe. Then the SL openers (Kaluwithrana/Jayasuriya) changed the dimension of the game by attacking and that became the norm now. Some time back, no one would open bowling with spinners. But not slowly that has been adapted by many teams. You do what works for you. If Rubel/Abul performed, then we would drop a spinner and go with 3 seamers.
