BDFlag Rangpur Team

Rangpur just became a new division, would NCL get Rangpur as a 1st class team now or would it stay with the current setup?

Where does Bogura fall in? Mushy is from Bogura as far as I can remember. BTW, my grandparents are North Bangali, so that makes me one too.

May be there would be a Rangpur team next year.
More chances for upcoming youngsters to play in first class cricket.

I think Sajidul Islam is from Rangpur. It will weaken the Rajshahi team for sure.

But Sajidul does not play for Rajshahi evernthough he is from Rajshahi division. Sajidul is lent to other divisional team.

Rangpur is a new division now? Since when? Any particular reason why they made Rangpur a new division? I thought Bogura has more businesses and population which can be a candidate to become a division, although I dont know the criteria to become a division.

BNP is not in power, AL and JP are, hence now Bogra never will be a division. (3 years ago there was a huge competition on which district would become a division. plus in the olden days Greater Rangpur included Bogra

the problem with Bogra is it's geographical location, it is right next Rajshahi and share common border which makes it difficult to make another Divison.

IC.. makes sense, otherwise BNP would have made it a division. Anyway, I wish Rangpur will make a strong cricket team. So far Rangpur will have Naeem, Dhiman and Sajidul right? Anyone notable player?

Seniority is also a factor during promotions in all cases. Bogra was elevated to the district status in 1821 while Rangpur became a district HQ in 1769 . Rangpur is one of the oldest district not only in Bangladesh but also in the Indian sub-continent. Rangpur was always a part of the undivided Bengal unlike Comilla (Tripura) , Chittagong(Arakan) and Sylhet(Asam) .

So Naeem and Dhiman from Rangpur. Who else play for Rajshahi division but originally from Rangpur?

Rangpur did reach the final of the last National District Cricket. They do have a lot of talented players. The current form of the Rajshahi is one example.
