What about Narul Islam guys? I wouldn't say Bongobondhu is our idol because there is a part of him many of us don't know... if known we would probably be hesitant to put him as our idol.

he is the brother of Ahsan Habib (Ummad !!)& humayun ahmed.if u want to know who is humayun the answer is : ex husband of gultekin, now if u want to know who is gultekin then the answer is the lady who lost (to keep her conjugal life unharmed)to her daughter,s friend ..man,i am getting tired of describing this vondo idol.
we bangladeshi,s really are very unlucky not to get an unanimous Idol in our entire history..

Why? Does he have the same traits like his older brother. I mean Ershad syndrome.

Many parts...This forum is for sports...not politics. Nobody in Bangladesh can be claimed to be in a starue that we cannot question. Being a good orator or charishmatic personality doesnt mean dedicated leadership or an idol per se.
At then end,, When we think about Bangladesh,, no specific picture comes to mind.. its a haze with flames where you see millions of faces, stories, music, laughter, tears... burns in your heart but never morphs into one single personality that says..."Bangladesh"

Yes, you got it!
If this "bongo-buto" (no pun intended) would suck upto cunning Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto in March of 1971, there would not be any Bangladesh. As a matter of fact, there would be no Banglacricket.com. This website could be a Pakicricket.com instead.

Daddy_Mac, I know you're a young guy and don't yet know which end is up but please refrain from ridiculing dead national figures. If this is meant to be funny, it is in very poor taste.

Our sports idol should be Mohammed Rafique. Because he is the real fighter with fighting sprit. But it’s also difficult exclude Salauddin, Akram Khan, Bulbul, Munna and Habibul Basher.
It’s better not to speak about our politicians.

if it is the best bengali , i would say rabindranath.
however if it is the most prominent bangladeshi, it is sheikh mujib. everyone has some good and bad, none is an angel. even me who has no interest in politics would say the most important person for bangladesh was him.
