Default 3-day & innings defeat

Zimbabwe lost to South Africa inside 3 days and by an innings today.

I think they have shown some similarity with Bangladesh - scoring 250 in 2 innings of this series, getting defeated inside 3 days - it all reminds me of Bangladesh's playing test cricket.

May be we can't afford to do bad there, but we will.

Just look at the facts:

- It has been over 6 months that we have not played in conditions that are not similar to the subcontinent

- Every subcontinental side has a history of performing badly on their first away tour to England, let alone their maiden tour

- Players from India-Pakistan they try to overcome their problem with adjusting to the English conditions by playing there in the counties - which, none of our current crop of players have experience (count Monjurul Islam Rana out - he played only in the 2nd/3rd division league, so it doesn't count)

- Our most recent tour in England (be it in an ODI) is not encouraging - ICC Champions trophy, our performance against England is also not good

- Overconfidence of beating Zimbabwe at home

So in summary, we must be prepared as the fans to see some bad performances by our team - so we can't afford to say that we can't afford to do bad there.

hahahaha
gotta agree with hasib on this one.

well in the meantime i was trying to come up with a few points on the positive side....lets see if you guys like'em..

1. the confidence earned by beating zim at home (notably the second test and the entire odi series)
2. the new found young blood (aftab, nafis, rebirth of rajin, a maturing ash, return of mash). and yes ashraful IS maturing, too bad if you cant see it.
3. top order is among runs.
4. batting depth (old news, we always knew our tail end rocks)
5. playing national league matches on grassy wickets
6. dav whatmore

I love to see them true! BUT remember England is currently standing second in the ICC test ranking and they beat SA in their home ground...

The same SA who is finishing test matches against ZIM within three days?

Its a bit too tall order to be very optimistic.

GOOD LUCK for BD anyway!
