I maybe the only one over here but I really don't care about his century and don't understand all this hype. All it did was Save us from losing face. His main job is to become a good bowler and we don't really need another bits and pieces allrounder like Zia. I mean do we really expect him to bat in the top order? Expect him to score consistent runs? Really? Did gillespie scoring a century against us, McGrath scoring a fifty, muralist scoring a fifty, Saqlain scoring a test hundred make them batsmen? Why is everyone all over the moon about this century? It's a fluke that doesn't warrant him to have his face pasted on the wall of this website.
His job is to bowl well and focus on becoming a good fast bowler. We have enough batsmen already unless Abul hopes to bat at number 3 or 4. Or become an excellent captain of our team

Exactly !! We shouldn't expect him to save our face over and over again. That's not his job in the team anyway. He made a 100, good. This proves he can bat as well but he have to prove himself as a bowler to secure a place in the team. We already have 8 batsmen and wanting him to focus on batting just won't work. Mash is a handy batsmen lower down the order as well but he knows it very well that his main duty is to bowl. We really don't need any more ARs as we have plenty.

Shoob e bujlam. Bolwing is his ticket to the team where he couldn't od much due to pitch and lack of experience.
Kintu Baba Abul... batting-e ki dekhalo...ta kemney "jhore bok" bole ignore kori? Jekhane "hati Ghora" gelo tol,,, Abul mia bole koto jool.... ebong Hati ghora-ke dekhiye diloo jol chilo matro ek Bigha...matha thanda rakre dubar kono karon chilona.
2nd inning-e partner-er obhabe century ta holo na...pora kopal.... ami bolbo... he was not lucky... he was unlucky.

BTW, I have not seen much of Abul's bowling. Anyone care to comment on that?

^^^ Bowled good lines initially and extracted some good bounce from the pitch in his middle overs.
Mushy made him bowl 1 powerplay over at the end, where the WI tail (rampaul/narine) smacked him for 15 runs or so. Any of our other pacers Rubel/Mash would have got the same treatment so really not much to say against his bowling.
I can tell that century will get him picked over Rubel/Nazmul ... which isnt necessarily a bad thing, he should bat ahead of Gazi, Razzak...

He was unlucky not to get a wicket
I thought he bowled reasonably well though.

Bowled really well in 1st ODI... But a sad victim of Captaincy, Umpire and Fielding... Our captain/s has no idea how to handle a bowler with real pace, what should be the field setting etc and our fielders aren't used to taking those catches due to extra pace. Even Shahadat is also a victim of these things to some extent. Infact, bowlers with extra pace are all victims.
We will all forget those three missed chances of Abul and extra runs conceded due to poor fielding.... But we will analyze the stats and see him to be the most un successful bowler of the day. We will forget how much trouble he created for the batsmen by bowling accurately and with pace and by creating those chances. That has definitely helped the spinners to have success later on... But yet after one or two losses, we will ask for a all spin team forgetting his contributions to the team....
Such thankless is the job of a pacer in BD team....well played Abul.

^thats why watching matches is very important rather than just looking at stat sheets. Stats can only tell you so much. When watching games, you actually know what's happening.

However can anyone please tell me why Rubel isn't playing? He is definitely a better bowler and our best Bowler at the end of the innings. His Yorkers are spot-on and he bowled so well in the tests.

He is a bowler not a batsman. But he can't do anything with ball. Considering his Test hundred, he should not be selected in Test squad.

Abul has been terrible since his U19 days. I'd be very surprised if performance has anything to do with him getting selected over and over. Mama/chacha ase naki kono?

3 overs, 38 runs, 0 wickets ,economy rate 12.66. Also bowled a crucial no ball near the end which cost them a wicket and also extra runs.
As consistent as ever with his bowling

He bowled some terrific yorkers, but they were totally overshadowed by rest of his pathetic bowling.

Last game he bowled so well also and helped them win the game. Story of BD players, they just can't stay consistent.

Even Zia Rahman can bowl better than him. Our fast bowlers is what letting us down in Cricket but I know its not going to be addressed.

Abul was the biggest weaklink for Sylhet last year BPL and keep continuing that form this year with Duronto. Definitely dont deserv in national t20 side, who already solely cost us lots of matches.
