'Disillusioned' Noffke considers Indian leagues

Noffke toured the West Indies with Australia earlier this year following an outstanding Pura Cup campaign, but rookie Victorian pace bowler Peter Siddle was preferred for the four-Test series which starts on October 9.
"I have told Digger [national selection chairman Andrew Hilditch] that I am totally disillusioned with the way these selections work," Noffke told the Herald Sun. "Digger said they had picked the best squad for Indian conditions, but that explanation didn't leave me feeling any better. I was good enough to be in the West Indies squad and I haven't played cricket since then so how can I get passed over?"

"I am a firm believer in taking wickets and scoring runs to put my name forward and I've done that. This feels like the end of my dreams of playing for Australia," said Noffke. Cricket South Africa is set to review its decision to suspend bilateral relations with Zimbabwe Cricket in the light of Norman Arendse's resignation as its president last week.
Arendse was the instigator of the cutting of ties with ZC in June because of what he said was "the worsening situation in Zimbabwe". At the time the move was greeted with surprise as CSA had been staunch supporters of Peter Chingoka and his board.
While Arendse was openly critical of the situation inside Zimbabwe, other senior officials have steadfastly backed the Chingoka regime and have gone to great lengths to help Zimbabwe's young players get as much exposure to quality cricket as possible.
It is now believed that CSA will reconsider the decision when it meets on October 11 and it is quite possible that bilateral ties will be resumed almost immediately. The power-sharing agreement between Robert Mugabe and Morgan Tsvangarai, assuming that it holds, makes a restoration of relations all the more likely.
It is generally believed that any such about-turn will come too late for Zimbabwe to be admitted to South Africa's provincial competitions in 2008-09, although they could be squeezed into the MTN Domestic Championship and Standard Bank Pro20.

Moin Khan to PCB

Former Pakistan captain Moin Khan has sued the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) over its claims that he was involved in recruiting batsman Mohammad Yousuf for the unsanctioned Indian Cricket League (ICL).

He asked for a written apology from the PCB within three days as well as 100 million Pakistan rupees (US$1.3 million) as compensation for damage to his reputation.

PCB spokesman Mansoor Suhail denied the charge, calling them "whimsical and baseless." Suhail said the board was planning to claim damages from Moin for serving the notice to the PCB.

Umpire Rudi Koertzen set to retire

Rudi Koertzen, the South African umpire, has announced his retirement from officiating in international cricket: his last Test will be the Pakistan-Australia fixture at Headingley from July 21 to 25. The ICC have added Marais Erasmus, from South Africa, and Rodney Tucker, from Australia, to the Elite Panel of Umpires for 2010-11 to replace Koertzen and Mark Benson, who stepped down from the panel in February
